Starting off with Mark Fisher and his Edgewater Beach Hotel Orchestra in 1933, with a very proto-swingish arrangement of "Black Eyed Susan Brown."

Next up, one of the more bizarre novelty tunes of 1939, a year which abounded with bizarre novelty tunes -- Eddie DeLange and his Orchestra, with vocalist Elise Cooper, "What This Country Needs is Foo!" "Foo and foo and foo and foo, let's give three cheers for foo!"

Uh, OK.

Just received a group of mp3s.
Listening to Tommy Johnson, Dick Justice, Weems String Band, Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, Memphis Jug Band and a load of other great musicians.

I forgot my MP3 player at home today, so currently during my lunch hour I am listening to the hums of a soda machine, water machine, and bus pass machine. Much more soothing than all the clanging and banging that is going on in the inside.

i just bought my girlfriend a cd of Ella Fitzgeralds love songs for her upcoming birthday, but very sneakily ripped it to my computer before wrapping it up, so now im chilling to 'someone to watch over me', 'stormy weather', 'misty', 'georgia on my mind', etc, -sheer bliss...

78s to eat a sandwich for supper by --

Shep Fields and his Rippling Rhythm, with bubbling soda-straw and all the trimmings, in one of the big hits of 1936, "This Year's Kisses." A guilty pleasure, but entertaining nonetheless.

Next up, it's 1932 and Ramona strides forcefully to the mike with Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra, for the vocal refrain on "Let's Put Out The Lights And Go To Sleep." "No more money in the bank, no cute baby we can spank!"
