In work, Classic FM on the radio (lots of music and not a lot of chat)

At home, working my way through 2 C90 jazz compilation tapes (from swing through to bebop to modern) in the hope of finally getting to grips with my dad's taste in music....

The Top Songs I'm Playing in Heavy Rotation Right Now:

"Chequered Love" - Kim Wilde
"It's Easy To Fall In Love" - Ben Selvin Orchestra w/ vocal by Eddie Walters (I have a current obessesion with navy-type 30s songs!)
"Here Lies Love" - Sam Browne
"Overkill" - Men At Work
"Don't Tell Me You Love Me" - Night Ranger
"Concentratin' On You" - Versions by Connee Boswell and Janet Klein
"I Do' Wanna Know" - REO Speedwagon
"Lucky Ones" - Loverboy

Lots of Ben Selvin, Janet Klein, and 80s stuff that no one else likes. And, of course, way too much OTR for my own good! I listen to it all day in work!!! Burns and Allen is still my favourite.

Classic Blue Note Jazz-Jimmy Smith, "The Sermon". Wow, listening to this makes me feel like I'm hangin' with with Hef for a little Playboy After Dark...

Bob Wills

Last night I enjoyed some Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys whilst sipping on three fingers of Glenlivet on the back deck in my panama. Life is good.

I hardy ever listen to regular commercial radio. If I listen to radio at all it's either NPR or Sirius.

I mostly listen to my 30 gig ipod which is nearly filled to the brim with swing, surf, rockabilly, retro country, and other roots genres that never get played on the radio.

You won't find more than 10% of my CD collection in your average music store. A fact I'm rather proud of.

The last 10 CDs I listened to:
1. The Torquays - Road trip
2. The Blue Hawaiians - Savage Night
3. Tha' Legendary Shack Shakers - Believe
4. Junior Brown - Live at the Continental Club
5. Hank III - Live in Scotland
6. The Derailers - Reverb Deluxe
7. Big Sandy and his FlyRite Boys - Jumping from 6 to 6
8. Danny Gatton - 88 Elmira Street
9. Hellecasters - Escape from Hollywood
10. Tom Waits - Alice

I only listen to pre 1945 music, Dutch, German, English, French stuff.
I have my collection of a few thousand songs and the broadcasts I collected playing in a loop on the ipods hidden in my 1934 radio :)

Knock Me a Kiss by Louis Jordan...loving it. I am still at work, and it is Friday. Can't wait to get off and turn this tune up while I sip a drink on the front porch in the swing. Ah yes, life is good.
