Lee Wiley, "A hundred Years From Today" 1934.

Jack Teagarden does a great version of this song. 1933 if I remember right.

Listening to T Texas Tyler today. That's a lot of t's.

Jack Teagarden did many great versions of this song throughout his career. I think it was sort of his unofficial theme song. He was a slammin' musician.

Sitting alone in my lodge-inspired room at an art retreat, with Pandora keeping me company. I just heard Maurice Chevalier's "Sweeping the Clouds Away", which I adore, and I really wanted to share it with my fb pals tonight. Sadly, it's nowhere to be found on YouTube. :(

No not on youtube...but in my head
these are the lyrics thanks to the internet

Don't go 'round moping, hoping happiness will come,
That's not the way; it doesn't pay!
If you want happiness, just help yourself to some,
Why don't you try to take life the way I do:

Let the whole world sigh or cry,
I'll be high in the sky,
Up on top of a rainbow,
Sweeping the clouds away!

I don't care what's down below,
Let it rain, let it snow,
I'll be up on a rainbow,
Sweeping the clouds away!

I have learned life's lesson,
Fighters who always win,
Are those who can take it right on the chin and grin!

And so I'll shout to everyone,
Find your place, in the sun,
Up on top of a rainbow,
Sweeping the clouds away!

Let the whole world sigh or cry,
I'll be high in the sky,
Up on top of a rainbow,
Sweeping the clouds away!

I don't care what's down below,
Oh ho, let it rain, ah ha ha, let it snow,
I'll be up on a rainbow,
Sweeping the clouds away!

I have learned life's lesson,
Fighters who always win
Are those who can take it right on the chin and grin!

And so I'll shout to everyone,
Find your place, in the sun,
Up on top of a rainbow,
Sweeping the clouds away!

I have learned life's lesson,
Fighters who always win
Are those who can take it right on the chin and grin!

And so I'll shout to everyone,
Find your place, in the sun,
Up on top of a rainbow,
Sweeping the clouds away!

Yes, and sung in that charming, Pepe LePew accent! :) I found and posted the version by Charles Buddy Rogers from "Paramount on Parade", but without that Frenchiness, it's just not the same.
(Fortunately, it's correct in my head. ;) )

Sap alert:
I'm fb chatting with my mister, who is home while I'm away. He's got the classic music channels on tv, and just threw out a song title saying, "this one reminds me of your childhood" (I had a US childhood, while he had a UK one). So I had to mute my golden age online radio to find the song on youtube, and here it is.
I remember it, probably from WBAP in Ft. Worth/Dallas....

Ah, Roy Clark, sounds of my wee youth.

Sigh. I cannot get "The Time Warp" to stop playing itself over and over in my head.

Once was fun. Twice was okay. But it's been hours now. GAH.

Ok good now I am listening to a song from On a Clear Day You Can See Forever- I think it's called Go To Sleep. Which I am now going to do.
