Thanks all, was thinking about possibly a new ribbon when I first got it. Most everyone liked the stock skinny/micro ribbon so I kept that on and added the sterling band just sitting above it. I have noticed the edges may be a problem over time, might look into thin felt strips to try and tack on it.

I'm not aware of a convention in SC. In the 70's I attended the FFA National convention in Kansas City. I'm not sure how SC and FFA would fit. Maybe an Iowa State judging event. I have a nephew who is an ag instructor and FFA Advisor in Nebraska maybe he could shed some light. If he knows anything I'll report back.
Still haven't heard from my nephew, so no news on the FFA hat.

OK I got a text from my nephew. He didn't give me a date but he did say that Resistol made a line of hats for FFA Alumni. I never knew that.

A fine hat - and boots! (As much as I appreciate all the well-done western boots seen here on the Lounge, lace-up packers are still my favorite "westerns" from the standpoint of comfortable wear).

Thank you, Wt. I appreciate that. I remember you mentioned that the first time I posted these. I admit I was skeptical at first as I’d never worn them before but I’m a real fan now. They’re breaking in nicely and for the weight, surprisingly comfortable over the long haul. I won’t give up my pull ons in favor of these but I’m already thinking about a black pair. Have you ever worn a pair out?

Sorry for the repetition. ;) Pull-on boots just don't work well for me, so I'm always glad to see lace-ups getting a little publicity too.

I've never "worn out" a pair to the point that they needed to be rebuilt or replaced, but have had a couple of pair re-soled at least once. One pair I have owned for at least 25, maybe 30 years. However, I normally wear these as casual boots, sometimes even "dress" boots, and so I'm not in them nearly as often as I am the "logger" style boots that I prefer to work in. And, I try to take good care of them, as I see that many of you here do.
