Good memory Jack! The only mark on the sweat is the logo. The liner does tout the percentage.

The sun through the screen makes an interesting pattern. Looks like @mmbarnes was messin’ with it. ;)
You may know the specs but it looks like it could be a 3x6. At any rate it deserves to remain an early Cattleman OR clone. Look forward to seeing it.

The Rand 10X is a 4x6 & very similar to one of mine which I bought new in 1991-1992. I'll look forward to learning what the date is.

Best haul i’ve seen that wasn’t goin to Mexico!! Lol

Thanks Bowen. These were more in my budget. I can't hang with Dr. Max.

The Thoroughbred was $25.

Not sure how to date Beaver Brand hats. The Lion might fit you -- wanna trade? :D

Hummm.....
What ya got in mind?? Hope it doesn’t start with a V!! Lol

Haha! No ... you can keep Hoppy. I'd be happy to send the Lion to you now for a hat to be named later. (You will probably outlive me, but if you want to put a piece of tape with my name on it in that Valentine I wouldn't be opposed...) ;)

The western load arrived (after 7:00 pm by UPS). Just as I was on the phone with my wife of course.

Two were packed in the 3-hat carrier (which was full of out-of-state dust -- I'd like to think it was from Wyoming) and the others were wrapped in vintage pillow cases and Hefty trash bags. Nicely done UPS Store (although your rates leave something to be desired). Thanks again Eric for the assist!

They all fit (the Rand just a bit loose and the Greeley just a bit tight, but I'll make them work). Gonna have to mess with the creases to get a couple of them off the top of my head and to erase any evidence of a shovel.

The O'Farrell is from 1991.

The Rand's is from 1996 (I think).

As I was hoping the hat band on the Resistol 5X is horsehair with a silver and gold slide and silver conchos.

Gonna watch "Losing the West" on YouTube now and pretend I'm a cowboy. :)

Nice haul! Can't tell from just the pic but some (most) inexpensive "horsehair" hatbands are dyed jute & not horsehair at all. Real horsehair hatbands whether hitched or braided are labor intensive & therefore normally not used on a factory production hat.

What a score! I don’t know how you found such a cache but good going.

You may be right on this one Jack. I compared it to the three old ones that came with "The Alamo" hat and they are rough feeling compared to this -- plus the old ones are shedding a bit. I still dig the slide and overall look. Not bad for a $14 hat.

Thanks Brent! I was surprised they sold so cheap. They were listed in an auction with a bunch of horse tack, etc. so I thought there would be hat buyers to compete with. Guess they figured the one hat they had was all they needed. The Baileys and Resistols sold for more. Knowing these custom brands put me in a good spot.
