Actually John Brownings original design didn't have a grip safety, it was added because the military wanted it.

Straw vs. Palm

What's better for warmer weather- straw vs. palm leaf?
I prefer ventilation or eyelets, so what's my best alternative in a cowboy hat- straw or palm leaf? Lots of options I realize... What's most versatile?

Big fan of the Sunbody hats myself. And any of them can be had with eyelets.

Picked this one up immediately thinking of Jack Palance and Lee Van Cleef.....
This one has a litte extra bling on the ribbon. Simply a wonderful deep black velour...
A little over 4 inches as bashed, 3 1/4 brim, awsome hand and you can almost loose your fingers in the velour.......sweet red lining......50's?
It certainly lives up to it's name.
A brand not much seen.......I just wish it was my size:(
All I can do is admire it for now........

I will post more pictures under the Thoroughbred thread..

Love it! I feel your pain about finding so many great hats in small sizes.

Looks real nice BB! I like that hat a lot on you. Perfect size, 4 x 6 or 6-1/2? You wear the size well.

Happy, Happy Hour!

Thanks for the kind words, HJ. Don't remember ever measuring this one. The brim is a bit dimensional at 3 1/2" front and back and 3 5/8" on the sides. It is 6" OC. As creased it is a bit over 4" at the dip and 5 1/2" at the back.

I did some work to my Resistol County Sheriff. Even after a gas bath it looks dirty. A friend of mine who works at Calico Ghost Town, asked if I was interested in joining their gunfighter group. They put on gun fight shows for the tourists. I thought this hat may be a good hat for that purpose. They want a photo in period clothing, along with application. So I'm trying out some different outfits.

I'd say you look quite vintage, but that might be misinterpreted. :D Really -- you look great and the dirt on the hat is not noticeable. You might need to dirty it up more for "authenticity".
Thanks Bob, I'm sure it will get dirtier. Being the new guy probably means I get to die on the street first!
