There are a lot of spectacular hats here. Just received this one today via EMS while I'm in Vietnam. It's an Akubra Arena. I just love it. It's been years since I wore a cowboy hat and when I first put it on I thought holy cow thats a big brim. It's growing on me though.
It looks massive! What is the brim and crown size?

@RJR

Thank you RJR. This hat brings back memories of my teens in rural Canada. I haven't stepped outside in Vietnam wearing it yet but I imagine I will get some looks.

Hats here just keep getting better! Nice hats all!!!

Bigbuc! I knew an old cowboy from up north Texas that used to say a straw hat was an abomination in the eyes of the Lord! LOL! To each his own!!!

TJones!
You always come up with the nicest hats! And I gotta say I am a big fan of your "campaign ribbon" hats you put together!!! Well done!

To each his own, indeed. I even wear an ivy cap once every now and then. But it's when my real hat doesn't fit in the other persons car.

sent using mobile data only. no broadband in Rural America as was promised by both Presidents Bush & Obama.

1890 Montgomery Ward "Planter" hat; a historically correct reproduction from Great Plains Hat Company.

Thanks my Texas friend. Here's the photo from the 1890 Ward's catalog the hatter worked from. It's the hat in the upper left corner.

I agree, fur felt is the only type to wear. I am from AZ and when I used to gather cattle with my cousin in desert for the place down the street from us the all thought that I was crazy to wear fur felt in the summer in AZ. I guess you just get used to it cause I never had any problems.

say Renault... what are the specs on your hat?
