In the mid 30's Stetson bought the Wolthausen hat factory in Brockville, Ontario and began producing hats in Canada.I believe Stetson bought a Canadian hatmaker to help with distribution in CAN?
I broke out my Shudde Bros. 3X mid-oval this afternoon for picking the kids up from school and running a few errands. I still have mixed feelings about the crease but this hat just wouldn't be right if I changed it.

I agree, the boxy crown and ribbon are what make me really like this hat.I know what you mean about the crease, but it does look “right” on this hat. I love the boxy crown too.
Love that red linerOkay, one more! Here's a Canadian-made 3X Stetson. 1960s? Very soft and thick felt. I believe Stetson bought a Canadian hatmaker to help with distribution in CAN? Anyhow, it was a sweet Eastern British Columbia thrift shop find!
Thank you! I have an OR that I have bashed with a center dent, but I want to keep this one as is even though it's not my favorite crease.Everyone should shape their hat in the way they like it most but I gotta say, that hat looks great as-is and it suits you well.
Run cattle on the side for over 20 yrs with tax records to prove it will earn you that right to wear an OR. Or be a film noir matinee star & snap the brim down.I still have mixed feelings about the crease but this hat just wouldn't be right if I changed it.

It’s a lifestyle, not a fashion thing.I propose that all it takes to earn the right to wear any hat you please is to have a head and a hat.

I know plenty of working cowboys with B.S. on both sides of their boots, just like every other profession. I'm really hoping this forum can quit with these notions that one person has a special status because of what they do instead of who they are. If someone is decent, honest, kind, open-hearted, and into hats then I want to share this space with them. If this is a space where some folks are legitimate hat/boot wearers and others are not, then I'll be packing up my hats and drifting along.
Like everywhere else on the internet you can't be too thin skinned around here. I feel like most folks are of a similar mind though and it's a pretty decent place to be as the internet goes.I know plenty of working cowboys with B.S. on both sides of their boots, just like every other profession. I'm a member of a banjo website where the favourite phrase is, "it's your banjo, play it like you like."
Though I own 5, that's the kind of gentleman I am, Bob
Bravo! That needed to be said, and I am in full agreement.I know plenty of working cowboys with B.S. on both sides of their boots, just like every other profession.
