Spectacular Portis, Gregg. Love the color.Portis western kept my noggin warm as I cleared a path from the deck for the knuckleheads. Told one in particular that if he tears up another leg, I’ll rename him Tripod.

Thank you sir! What vintage would you reckon on that one?Thank you, Perry. Never saw myself in a green hat until someone talked me into buying this one. Glad they did. The usual fine display of hats and sweaters from you this week.

I’m not too good at this, Perry but it makes me think 60’s. Never seen another Portis western, though, so not much to go on.

Fits proper too.Well whatever it is, it's a damn fine hat.
I dig that green one, Cuz, and it looks good with the Carhartt. The pup looks like he's kinda over the snow. Hope it's cleared up some by now.Portis western kept my noggin warm as I cleared a path from the deck for the knuckleheads. That's a mighty nice one Brent. Shape, color...a classic all around.

Nice sentiment Robie. For over 20 yrs I did morning feed & always enjoyed first light.I know this isn't hat related, but I thought it a nice sunrise and wanted tell all my fellow western fans, good morning.

Always enjoy seeing the green Portis, Greg. It has a great brim and curl. Great proportions all around and the 6 ply is a bonus. A favorite hat for me.Portis western kept my noggin warm as I cleared a path from the deck for the knuckleheads. Told one in particular that if he tears up another leg, I’ll rename him Tripod.

Here's the Knox Stagecoach I was working on. You don't run across hats like this very often. It sports a 7 inch tall open crown and a 4.5 inch brim width. I was able to preserve the original block profile and to keep its brim width and pencil curl. Except for the cheesey hat band I reused everything that was original to this hat. I gave the crown a Montana pinch crease with a Mule Kick in the back, and I gave the brim a Cowboy Curl. I'm just guessing, (and maybe someone can chime in), but possibly Byer / Rolnick bought out Dobbs and Knox back in the day(?) I saw a Dobbs Western Stagecoaches, and of course Resistol, but this is the first Knox Stagecoach that I personally saw. Anyway, here's the hat. I'll have more later...

Thank you Brent! I agree. It's an 'old school' look but I think it goes perfect with this hat of the proportions it has.Looks great, Terry! That’s definitely the right crease for a crown that tall. I’m glad you were able to reuse all the components and keep it true to its original form.
