Wearing my latest refurb project. 1950s era 3X Beaver Quality Stetson Western. This hat was actually abused and worked in throughout its life. I purposely left some of the staining to preserve some of this hat's life history and to give it something of a 'worn lived look'....

You wear that style well, Terry. I’m usually lowering the bumpers, but I really like how you have this hat shaped.

Thanks buddy. I actually used old TV Western serials of the 1950s and '60s as my inspiration for that style.

Not exact, but something similar to this, James Garner's "Maverick" hat and other similar styles along this line...

Thank you Dale!

Those Squirrels are at my window every morning wanting peanuts. They even come to me when I call for them...and they're not the only ones who wait outside my window to be fed. I've got Blue Jays out there every morning too! They compete with the Squirrels.

View attachment 245857 Inside of my 30 year old working Stetson. The hatband is loose and I probably ought to look at replacing the hat.

Why not have it cleaned, re-blocked, and have a new sweatband sewn in? You can even have it over-dyed if needed. You probably won’t save any money over buying a new replacement hat, but it’s satisfying to return well-used hats to good form.

If I could find a place to have a sweatband sewn in, I'd even skip the cleaning.
If you really like the hat go the full Monte. Have it cleaned, reblocked, and a new sweat. For something you really like it may be worth the cost, and it may be cheaper than buying a new one.

Well, there are a few places in Idaho. I bought my first cowboy hat from Jaxonbilt hats in Salmon Idaho online. I'd go local if you can. I've also purchased from Mike Moore (Buckaroo Hatter in Covington Tennessee), and Tony (Tumwater Hats Tumwater Washington).

I'd let any of those three work on a hat like that.

Tony relocated to Colorado a few years back. I was recently in discussion with him on a custom when he just stopped replying. Not sure what’s going on there, but I don’t think he’s making many hats these days.
