Good looking Churchill, Cuz. I only have one hat by them, and it's some nice felt, soft as an old t-shirt. I can only imagine how that 50 feels.

Thanks, Cuz and I can only say that for awhile, the felt put out under the Churchill label was fine stuff. The same house as Resistol, just different. You ever chance across a 50, snag it. 7X CB like w/o all the hoopla.

Back in 1945 Wards put out a Western wear catalog (flyer really). In it are these hats.....you can see the inspiration for the crease in my 80's Black 3X pictured at bottom......

The center fire crease must have been popular at one time. See it your cat. examples and I’ve seen several vintage hats recently sold that had the crease. The Nutria Quality I just got came with it. The Duke liked it.

To go with the OPS cover above here is a trick photography OPC cover....one of my favorites and the idea was copied by at least two different companies....(I am still not sure who was first)

As an aside: OPA (Office of Price Administration) and OPS (Office of Price Stabilization) were laws and regulations temporarily enacted to combat inflation on many services and products (including agricultural products, rent control and wages) both in WW2 (OPA) and the Korean Conflict (OPS). Dates for OPA range from 1942 to 1947 and OPS, 1951-1953. Garments (including hats) with OPA (Price Control) or OPS (Ceiling Price) tags are therefore easily dated.....Here is a WW2 poster image (not mine).

Yes, he has a few movies wearing that crease.....I thought it interesting enough to put it in one hat anyway.......;)
