Western, anyone?

For me, I like Westerns that are more along this line. Wide curled brim with either a tall Gus or a tall Montana Pinch crown. This a 3X Resistol that I reworked...

I like that hat as well, TJ. I like my cowboy hats to have a 3 1/2 - 4" brim. I just don't wear anything over 4 anymore. That #1 I wore yesterday has a 3 1/2" brim. What I was trying to express about that Borsa is that my go to hats these days are usually a western dress hat with a 3-3 1/4" brim and a 6" crown. Most have either a cattleman crease or a center dent with the front crown lowered a little bit with shallow pinches. My 7X CB is an example of this. @Hurricane Jack has a Black Sheep hat with these dimensions and a stitched brim. Probably my favorite example of this style hat.

Those are very nice hats you guys have. I like them. It's just my own preference for a wider brim on a Western. But then again, that's not to say that I still won't make a Western out of it. That's very possible. When I'm undecided like this, I never know what I'm going to do until I actually do it.

That's a nice one T. For a true western the Montana would prob be my fav bash, but for whatever reason it just doesn't seem like a good fit on that Resistol. I know you have your best interests for it, and it's probably good to sit on it for a while and figure out what's going to be best for it. Cheers.

As far as my black Borsa goes I'm leaning more towards keeping it a fedora. That means I'll probably be trimming the brim to a width that I'm going to be happy with. I'll be trimming it down to 2 3/4 and then reflanging it to a snap brim. If I can come across some 1 inch black ribbon I would bind the brim edge for a Whippet effect. As it is, it just doesn't have enough brim to suit me for the style of Westerns I like.

My apologies, I meant Borsalino instead of Resistol. That was most likely a result of way too late at night inebriated typing.

I'm with you on the pinch. I have a bunch of cattleman crowns but they are getting old to me. The pinch front whether it's teardrop or center dent is looking better to me these days. The pinch also gives a taller crown.

:eek::eek::eek:Can't you sell or trade it to someone. If it was my size I would be bugging you to buy it. That is a nice hat with an awesome stitched brim not commonly seen......shame to cut it up:(:(:(
Best,
M;)

I understand, buddy. I don't like the idea of trimming away the brim stitching either. But I have have to make it the way it would suit me. If I traded it off it would definitely have to be for something equally substantial. But, I'm really not interested in trading or selling it. Not to worry, though. Whatever I decide, it will end up nice. ;)

Cool down South today, ya'll. Cool enough for this old black Stetson, an old white label Pendleton High Grade Western Wear shirt and it's game day, so the elephants are on a roll. Pun intended.

Nice elephants, B. Gray is such a great color. Waste of thread on the wrinkles and toe bug, though. Just like my hippo's, almost invisible.
