Yes. But only because I agree I like my wear and tear and patina to come the natural wear. I can’t blame Schott for doing this though. How many makers are doing some version of premature or accerealted aging? Just a bit late to the party.

Not for me, but then I don't like that level of wear however natural it may be. This to me is no more artificial than a leather designed to look seventy years old adter a month of wear, fwiw.

As I acquire more leather jackets, I've also acquired a greater appreciation for jackets that earn honest wear over time--preferably from me! Vintage is super cool, but there's also something special about buying a new jacket and seeing the grain emerge and noticing a little nick and scrape over time.

This Schott product is just fake wear and not my cup of tea.

As it seems to be rather general opinion here that distressing is bad and worn look should be "earned", I'm sure everybody dislikes these Thedis as well. Unfortunately I am, as usual, in opposition and really love these creations.

It’s not stupid at all, the price is a bit stupid considering you can justify get a used one on eBay considerably cheaper. But there’s nothing inherently wrong with stuff made to look cooler than it otherwise might through artificial means. Practically every woman on earth is a pro at this with makeup and heels and I’m willing to bet many of us here have lifted weights or whitened/straightened their teeth at some point, both of which are artificial ways of improving our looks and appealing to the opposite sex’s innate attraction to certain genetic traits etc.

I haven't read anyone saying that the .50 Cal from Eastman looks fake or from Thedi because those are done properly.

disclaimer: I am not a Schott fan boy, I don't own the jacket in the OP nor do I intend to buy it.

I didn't make the claim that anyone has said anything about fakes. I just read quite a few comments how people dislike artificial aging (this has also been discussed here before). At the same time folk around here seems like what Thedi is doing and Eastman too with .50 cal. I like it too!

Take a look at the pictures at Schott website - their studio pictures are bad, as usual, but those taken with model wearing this jacket are much better looking IMHO.

By the way I find quite odd to say that Thedi and .50 cal are ok, as they are done "properly". For your own opinion only that is of course fine, but as it seems to me that you state it as general opinion, Who gets to decide what is "properly"? Is it TFL jury or maybe the consumers in general? If latter, Schott would win "properly" title hands down. Or is it level of aging? One scrub too much and "oops, its not proper any more!".
