If you are going to wear a hat for fear of what other might think of you. I would suggest not wearing a hat then.

As I am human, a social animal, the opinion of those with whom I interact has importance.
Dating is a great fun hobby of mine thus what the dames of my liking think has extra importance as maximising romantic result is added to the former.

I am a bit surprised about the resistance against this. It seems elementary to me.

The "who cares what anyone else thinks" is a frequent comment around here. I have always found it interesting since we are talking about hats that are designed to be fashion accessories and the entire purpose of fashion is to inspire a reaction in others.

I think you'll find that it is your attitude that most are reacting negatively to, not the topics. You know... being a "social animal," and all.

It is part of a fine line between individuality and group identity.

In this specific case I aim to be individual enough to be noticed but conforming enough to be attractive to just the dames I like.
When there is such a social goal, the way one is perceived by others is THE leading theme for the choice of attire.

Even like with cross country horse riding when I wear 18th century inspired attire topped with a tricorne, there is a part conscious part subconscious motive of inspiring a reaction. In that case to draw attention to a different way of treating with horses.

'Quality' too has a HUGE social aspect. Hence Veblen goods. The perception by others is the ONLY reason for the Veblen phenomena which exists in hats just as much as in other stuff.

Sadly we "think others are judging " us. When we are the one who does the judging.
Having worn hats for 40 years now the social animal on me has learned that people love my hats. I get comments all the time.

I asked a serious hat question and have no control over how other members act upon their own perception of what they think they read.

My 'atitude' is a subjective perception. That and the way one chooses to act on one's OWN!!! emotion is exclusively informative about oneself.
More so when dealing with a virtual world.

Anyway, meanwhile I have had an aha-erlebnis with deja-vu contents which might make for a highly enjoyable project.
Granada per example is the shoe shopping capital of Andalucia. Two years ago I wanted a some new pairs of summer shoes and asked local dames if they would like to go shoe shopping with me.
That was highly effective great fun with as bonus shoes liked by me and the ' right' women.
I have Sevilla, Malaga, Cordoba and Granada within reasonable travel distance so hat shopping should be a viable funproject.

There is no hatmáker for men in Málaga, but the other three do have one.
It will be a nice summer project to visit all the workshops.
The one I will probably visit first is in Granada

I have cancelled the Cordoba appointment as that was with the shop and they are secretive about the workshop. I will need an introduction for that.

I have a date for saturday in Málaga and the hatshop for men is relatively close to the parking I will leave my car. If I can swing it, I will drop by.
