Late 1940s NOS British Walkers Spades:

GREAT example of how the wide welt can be used to add elegance to a shoe. The spade points are more rounded to soften the effect.

The pointier spade can make for a more rustic and rugged looking shoe. Still gorgeous, but not quite as "dressy" as the last examples.

PS: Cookie's shoes! How he finds great Spades in 10 1/2 is beyond me.

Issh, even though i bought those rounded Connolly's from you recently i actually prefer a pointed toe as a rule. those 'pointy revivals' (above) are great. lovely black cherry / aubergine colour too.

BUT, even the xtra sharp points can be extremely elegant. When the goal is to accentuate the waist, thus making a curvy (Marilyn Monroe-esque?) shape...

I like these Gaziano & Girlings pretty well, but, aside from the price, I don't like the square toes. To my eye, the pair described above as Marc's crocs have just about a perfect shape.

The Holy Grail of US Vintage Shoes (really)...

1940's NOS Edwin Clapp Flying Wing Spade Soled Oxford Wingtips.

100% Handmade elegance.

(I can't believe they are a HUGE size 13d! What a rare size for Vintage US Shoes, where most are too small for the modern foot to wear)
