Mighty Milans, mates!

I've posted this lid here before, but since the season is again upon us (and because Art is a mensch) I thought we could freshen up with some new photos from Straw Hat Day, 2016. Here's mine from Art, early last season...

Beautiful lid! I will be ordering one in November from Art as a birthday present to myself!! ;)
If only I could find one of those Singer 25/56 sewing machines I could start learning how to make these too!

Just got a call from a potential client with some interesting information. I have thought that Graham and I were the only two hatters in the country making mens hats in Milan straw from the original wheat straw but at least for this year, Graham appears to not be making them but instead, taking orders for next year. Looks like I'm the only one for now. Very cool, ( I think)
I don't know what it means but cool

Very cool that you still do it Art, glad someone out there is preserving the art/heritage. I would like to learn how to do this. Kind of sad that it seems we are loosing talented artisans who can produce this hat. I hope to see these preserved.

By the way, since I am in your queue. Do I send my head conform to the address listed on your website?
I'll PM you about another general question I have.

I also see in a blog that they are using very wide plait but the principle is the same and I suspect so is the material. They are also using power tools Suitedcboy, I see motors on their sewing machines.
I wonder, could I claim the only "Fedora" maker?

You could but it would be a sweeping generality... :)
