That is the surprise, mid length? The longer one is newer even with the same lapel front. I will probably get them all out, I have 2 others in a mid length
I'd love to see all of them!

This one is 26.5" and I think is a 40 or 42 so probably equivalent in length basically to your Hercules you measured.

I'm curious to see how it fits on me. Part of the reason I'm leaning toward alteration is because I'm 95% sure the sleeves will be too long

The length is evident in your picture. Sleeves don't seem to run long on these wool styles. You will know soon. Haven't ever mentioned the "other" one. I have nothing like this yet.

I need to sort through my wool jacket. I will do some videos .

Sorry for the double post, but does anyone know what label this is and what brand its for? I know it's torn up, but I feel like I've seen that "all wool" label somewhere before.

I've been thinking about this thread for some time. Hopefully this thread can capture discussion of Vintage Outerwear without derailing other threads. While writing this I thought of several other topics.

This Peters is a good place to start as it is currently for sale on ebay. I have never seen one of their jackets for public sale. It is discussed in Rin Tanaka's book Motorcyle Jackets: Ultimate Biker Fashion page 30.

I believe these jackets were made in the early 40s.

These styled backs faded from jackets during the mid 40s.

The jacket is pictured in Tanaka's book with a Montgomery Ward labeled jacket. Both appear to be made by Peters. MW labels proclaimed Styled and made in California through out the 40s. Confirms that this maker made jackets for other retailers. I could well have a Peters jacket with a Montgomery Ward label.

Made in California became a significant marketing tool. More on that.
Amazing Collection. Loved it.

Thanks for the full wool jacket video @tmitchell59 . I didn't know you had so many red white and blue ones. Incredible collection! Can't believe you still have more! Can't wait to see them!
The connection with WWII is meaningful to me. I have a mix of wools remaining, some interesting. I have to pick up this pile.

You have an excellent collection, you have styles I do not have.

Yes we each have styles the other does not have. Although I see what you said about having a Hercules that is very similar in overall design and pattern to the brown one I just purchased

I found another one, same buckle and halfbelt construction. Also note the chest pocket with double topstitch on the top side, no welts, same as on the Alaskans. This one has a Minnesota Woolen Co label.

Interesting, two Minnesota store labels. The Westerner label is odd. Trade Mark, but no r for registered, Horse-Hide? never seen written like that. Remind me of Durables in the Durable thread, fine leather, unique styling.
