Well worn distressed Montgomery Ward longer half belt. This one already had some miles on it when I got it some time back. Gots the “Irishman” look.

Seller says it’s a US made jacket but not sure what he’s basing it off of. Any ideas on maker @tmitchell59?
Nice one, congrats. Could be 30s, it has that vibe. Does it fit?

That was actually a typo on my part. I would also say 30’s detailing. Seller listed as a 50’s but I don’t think that’s the case.. just guesswork on his part. Yes it does fit as long as I don’t eat too many goodies during Christmas.

I like it! No idea about the maker. Nice to find a size 44. Difficult to date non zip jackets

Recently returned Kit Carson from Dena @ Great Leather after zip replacement and loose stitching repairs. Have had it for awhile stuck in the back of the closet needing the zip replaced finally got around to it.
Kinda vintage moto/aviator cool vibe.

Lining fairly decent just a little dirty. I’ll replace the cuff snaps with brass snaps to match the zipper

Another nice Score! Has anyone have a guess on who sold these Kit Carson jackets? Someone has mentioned a store, but I can't remember.

Any thoughts on the Daniel Boone jackets? like, who sold them

Montgomery Ward short 25” length half belt I’ve had for quite some time. Another favorite.

this one has got some really nice leather for the era.

I've seen other MW jackets with this label that look like decent quality leather and style. Seems this is the last of the "old school jackets" in quality and style. MW certainly had a history of Quality leather jackets going back to the 30s.

The early 60s is the end of an era and the beginning of another in leather jackets.

Excellent, that's exactly the kind of stuff I need to know! Thanks again.
Just took delivery on this Sportclad HH half belt jacket and I'm very excited. I've included some pics for y'all. First is a fit pic, and I feel like the fit is good! Let me know what you think.

I don't know how to really talk about the leather, so happy to answer any questions. It's not too stiff, but there are a few rough spots I'm a little worried about. Especially seems a little thin & worn on the shoulders. See pics. Should I condition it at all? What do you recommend? I have some Howard Leather Conditioner at home, would that be good? There are also a couple of spots that have a sort of waxy white buildup. Maybe from previous treatments? Should I do anything about that? Not sure you can see in the pics but maybe you know what I'm talking about.

Terry tells me it's 1946-51, based on the label. Looks like the main zip is a Crown, and the pocket zip is a Talon. Can we narrow it down any more from those?

Lining is pretty cool. I guess the bottom part that's a different plaid is a repair? Still kind of neat.

What else? I guess that's it. My first legit vintage leather jacket and I'm over the moon. Thanks to everyone here for the inspiration and all the research! If you do decide to treat the leather jacket with something I’d recommend, Cobbler’s Leather Cream. I used it on my jacket that I’ve been religiously wearing now for about a month that’s a little further up the thread, and found it to be quite nice it made the leather softer and less prone to flaking and made it a little more water resistant. I’ve also used Lexol and some other stuff but it just doesn’t quite work the same.

Lining and zipper tape are so pristine at first assumed they were redone but absolutely no new stitching, I believe them to be original.

After reading the newer Leather Conditioner comparison thread, thought I’d try Skidmores, never again for me, leather still slightly tacky after 2 months, I’ll stick with my longtime standby Dr Jackson’s

I haven’t been able to find much info on this Distinctive Woodsman Outerwear wool coat but it’s definitely one of
my most favorite cold weather coats, beautiful patterned

I’ve had this the longest of all my vintage outerwear. A trim fitting 42 so I can barely wear it but it is a beautiful broad weave tweed kinda bluish-grey/oatmeal in great condition, very lightweight almost a blazer. Only other one I’ve ever seen is the one Dinerman posted on his Vintage-Haberdashers blog.
