I'm pricing 4 of my Motorcycle jacket collection that are pictured in this video.

I doing this initial post as fair warning of what is to come. Give you a couple of days to get interested and do some figuring.

I'm working on all the pics/etc and will have them priced on Friday June 8th.

The Video is 20 minutes long. The first 10 previews the jackets, the second ten is try on. I will have more pics/videos coming as I get things organized.

I do want to sell at least one.

Great informative video. That Hercules looks fantastic on you, even though i do agree it is a bit large rn at 175 lbs. The jacket by itself is just way too cool. The back design and the taper make it fit crazy cool. Unfortunately too large for me, as well. I am 5,9 180 lbs as well.

The seams on the unlabeled one also make me think it is a Monarch, you don't see those seams on too many other makers. I may be potentially interested into that one.

Always love to see what is up next from your closet Terry. Cant wait to find out how long the sleeves are on the Taubers. Very fun!

All nice jackets! But none in my size.

Terry, if you ever have a vintage motorcycle jacket in the size 40 range, I'd be interested. :)

Are they McDonald from Spokane WA? That is interesting. Do you know anymore about the maker?

Weighs right at 5 pounds.

Thanks, Terry
Yes, indeed. Same logo, same label.

I procured them on ebay last year, from the estate of a retired police officer motorcycle cop. They're in excellent condition and fit me perfectly. Quality is on par with my Langlitz pants. I'm glad that the motorcycle cop didn't choose to be buried in them. Same seller had a very nice Cal Leather jacket that went for more than I was willing to go, but I got the pants dirt cheap. Original owner clearly knew quality and cared for his stuff.

I know nothing at all about the company, but they must have been contemporary to Langlitz in their early days. Considering how close they are geographically, I bet they must have competed with each other at one time. They don't seem to be around anymore. I'll try to get some pics of them up when I can.

This beautiful unlabeled jacket is most likely made by Monarch of Milwaukee. Monarch was a well known producer of outerwear. They made A2 and G1 jackets under military contract. I own several other Monarch civilian leather jackets. Dave Shelley is an authority on Monrach jackets. On seeing pictures of this jacket he believes it is a Monarch product. Monarch construction and quality are well known among collectors and leather makers.

The leather is as good as any I have seen from this era and every bit as good as horsehide being used today. This jacket is probably 70 years old and has been well taken care of.

I have Monrach half belt from around this same era, late 40s. It has a similar Horsehide tag and blue wool lining. Monarch made jackets with their label or unlabeled for other stores. All the Monrach leathers I have owned are distinctive in their precised, tailored fit. This jacket exhibits these traits. It does not fit or feel like a mass produced jacket.

The leather is as good as any I have seen from this era and every bit as good as horsehide being used today. This jacket is probably 70 years old and has been well taken care of.

The large Talon zipper is a replacement. It is well sewn. The re-sew is not the best work. An original Talon zipper of this era would not be difficult to find if you wanted to make a change.

It has the size 42 size tag. All the pocket bags are good. All the zippers and snaps work as they should. The round zipper pull on the left hand warmer pocket is missing. There is slight wear at the Collar bend.

Thanks for the information.

Deer? Elk? Goat? don't know, don't care. this is one of the most interesting jackets I have come across. This one it is all about the Fit. This is like putting on a comfortable space suit! I don't ride, but this would be the jacket I would grab. It conforms to your body like nothing I have worn. It fits snug through the waist and lower back, while being open for movement through out the body. This is done without belts or side cinches. Does not ride up, stays put. The design/cut/construction are genius. Everything about this jacket says Motorcycle. It has the original owners name and phone on the inside pocket. Bob.

This jacket fits like it was made for Terry! I'm 5'9". This picture I was nearer to 190.

Coats and Clark main zipper. This is a typical zipper for small makers during the 50s 60s. This is similar or identical to a Crown zipper. Also full length wind flap.

Mid 1950s Sears Hercules Horsehide Motorcycle jacket.

Sears sold many MC jackets in the 50s. Horsehide was the dominate leather from the 40s through the mid 50s. This jacket is a standard D pocket Hercules with the popular red quilt lining. All the tags are present as is the hang tag!

The Horsehide leather is very nice, with some weight and a prominent horsehide odor. Not cigs, or bar smell, old Horsehide. I like the smell.

Original Talon zipper. The pull side is fine. There is fraying and separation on the pin side. The tape is coming off the pin. This jacket can be easily zipped, you have to be gentle. This is a comman issue with all zippers. I have this issue with new jackets. This should hold fine with proper care. If you have to replace it, a Talon zipper of this era are available.
