Hey Terry:
This Monarch is an amazing jacket in every way! If you say it’s a Monarch...then it’s a Monarch!!
Hell, if it was a Van Gogh jacket, i’d ask you if it was a real Van Gogh!

School is back in session @MotoGuzzi . We have a couple of things in common and agree on; We love the jacket, and we think it is valuable. You $300 me $600. I fully understand your $300 value is a lot of money, maybe your top $ for a leather jacket. You can buy a lot of nice vintage leather jackets for $300 I could send you links to several for sale now. We agree again; you don't think it is worth 600 and I don't think it is worth 300. If I put this jacket up for $300 I would have 1 friend and ten less so.. The line for this jacket is pretty long at $300, it gets shorter as the price grows. I understand that.

I price on these basic three things: 1. My value in the jacket $$. 2 My personal interest in the jacket: do I like it, does it fit me, does it fit in my collection.3. Outside interest in the jacket: appeal to buyers, unique, standard, MC, etc.

I try to balance those and that usually results in a sale. Sometimes I get it wrong or out of balance. Some stuff is hard to let go of. it is in Stong Hands.

I thought I explained pretty well why I thought this was a $600 to me. Yes, I think it is a Monarch. That may or not mean anything to anyone. It does to me. I own several of their jackets. I do believe they were a Premier maker during their run. If my friend Dave says it is Monarch built I trust him.

I'm working on a thread about a recent buy of an unlabeled jacket. I showed it here where it was partly recognized, that sent me to ask one of the Kings of Leather. He told me who made it and why. Several days later I found the jacket with it's original label in a Rin book. I've got it written in my head.

I spend a lot of time educating myself and a lot of money too. You won't know these jackets until your own them. Things change then, jackets get more valuable. You realize there is room in my closet for a Vintage jacket, then find room in your wallet.

I fully understand there is a lot of risk in the unlabeled jacket. Then the quality of the jacket, leather, cut, workmanship need to sell the jacket and that ain't easy! People are pretty well versed in diference/qualities of contemporary jackets, but not on vintage. Often a tough sale.

Hope this answers your questions

Found what looks like the McDonald jacket on ebay, only no lining, no brand label, and the leather is in terrible condition, and the seller wants $550 for it. In this condition it's basically worthless except as a pattern jacket.

@Lebowski got a nice deal. Prices vary quite a bit and value is definitely subjective, but I think Terry is pretty reasonable. He's certainly knowledgeable, and has contributed a lot to the community through his posts and videos.

Great find! I didn't bother to look at that jacket. Sure does look like a McDonald.

I forgot to ask: What type of leather do you think your pants are?

I'd have to guess they're a midweight cowhide, but I don't know for sure. But to me they don't feel like goat, and they're not stiff enough to make me think horse. They feel very much like my Langlitz pants, which are definitely cow.

I have bought vintage jackets from you on Etsy. If Dave Sheeley says it's a Monarch of Milwaukee, maybe he has a label he can send you to sew into the jacket.? I personally feel without a label, I don't see it going up in value for me. That's just me.

Dave put a Monarch label in another jacket. It had a false California Sportswear label. Dave patterned that jacket for his shop because he knew it was a Monarch.

I had not thought about a label for this one, perhaps.

I have another unlabeled Monarch half belt that I will be asking Dave to restore for me. I traded him one just like it with the label for some restoration work he did. Dave is better at identifying unlabeled Monarchs, they do show up.

They are defiantly nice pants. I was hung up on Deer/elk for that jacket, it just didn't feel/look like anything else I own including other Deerskin.

I'm curious as well... But I guess I'll never know, unless @Lebowski decides it doesn't fit him and he offers them up again. Don't know that I'll ever see another. The one on eBay that I linked to above looks like a different animal to me, but it's only a guess when all I have to go on is pictures.

Terry, do you have anything for my barrel chest in a 48 or bigger? We are about the same hight.
You’ve educated me a lot over the last 2 months watching your videos. If I’m putting my 8 year old to bed she asks if we can watch a “Terry jacket” video. She says your voice puts her to sleep. I find that cute and thought I’d share. Keep doing your thing brother. A lot of us appreciate you.

Omg! Too cute!! Thanks for sharing!

I have a two and a half year old granddaughter. I bought her a child's size leather jacket. She should be able to fit in it this winter. It is a dress coat Style.

I don't think I have anything in a 48 size. The Taubers listed in this ad is as close as I could get.

Thanks for your thoughts and your message. I will keep my eyes open

That’s cute about the jacket for your granddaughter. My youngest is 5. They are a handful at these ages. Lol!
