My thoughts exactly... She really just seemed intimidated by trying something new on the spot. I guess I can understand that but I wish she'd at least tried.

Grr! That's really too bad Zombie Girl. Here you presented your nail tech. with an opportunity to learn something new and she turned it down!

Here's mine, pardon the bandaid and excess polish which hasn't been taken off yet. :)

Oh, and I did it freehand as opposed to using stickers like I did last time. It's actually really easy as long as you paint to the side instead of up and down. ;)

Nice job, Kiri!

I haven't tried the moon manicure yet. I keep talking about it, but never get around to it. When I polish, I just do the basic almond shaped red-all-over nail. I have fairly nice/pronounced moons, so I really should try it. My go-to is plain ol' OPI "Red."

I think I can try it freehand, but I am a little concerned about doing my right hand. I can't do anything left handed. The left hand may end up looking nice, but someone might mistake my right hand for a Halloween statement a month too early. lol

I just thought I'd let you gals (in the UK and Ireland) that there is a beautiful free nail varnish with this months Marie Claire - it's by Ciate Paint Pots and the colour is Dangerous Affair (lovely dark pinky red) - it goes on like a dream, and is pretty hard wearing - LOVE the colour (the bottle is very cute too!)!

I'm terrible trying to paint my right hand too, being right handed. I just went a little slower and more carefully and always side to side. Good luck! Have some polish remover handy just in case. ;)

I walked down the local high street this morning, and noticed a shop window labeled VINTAGE SALON COMING SOON. I can't wait to see what they mean by vintage salon... and I will definitely be asking for one of these manicures!

Hmmm - I walked past again now it is open. They are advertising all the usual gel nails and whatnot but they have a chaise longue. I'll have to go in and ask about a half moon manicure and see if they know what I am talking about. Unfortunately it is just a nail bar, so I won't be able to get my hair done!

Do any Angelinos know of somewhere that will do a half moon manicure? I'll be in Los Angeles this weekend.

Has anyone tried Shellac on their nails yet? I have no affiliation with the company or any salon but I'm a huge fan. I've been using it for about a month now (I got supplies and a UV lamp on eBay and do it myself) and my nails have never looked better. It's so nice not to worry about chips! They have a couple of really gorgeous reds and I got a lot of compliments on mine when they were red (they're clear right now). Shellac is like gel nail polish but it is much easier to take off than all the other gels on the market and it comes off in a few minutes without doing any damage. I don't think I'll ever go back to ordinary nail varnish!
