If it shows delivered get your money back! I’ve had stuff totally fall off the grid. But it does eventually show delivered status. USPS keeps that data for one year (or at least they used to).

Still in transit lol.
Thanks for your support Tony. The Bermuda Triangle of jacketing. Or DB Cooper.

Wow. That must be a coincidence of bad timing and a global pandemic. I’d keep an eye on it nonetheless. Also force an investigation. If you file a claim with the PO it kicks the urgency up the chain. If it’s truly “lost” you can still get the bare minimum insurance for it. Might only be $100 but it’s pure principal of the thing at this point.

I don't want to derail the thread or dredge up this situation if the seller just wants to move on, but I'm just curious how the buyer got away with it if he used F&F. As far as I know, Paypal explicitly does not offer buyer protection on F&F payments. That thread is living proof of it - pages and pages of people complaining that they were scammed and now have no recourse because they didn't read the fine text regarding the clear lack of buyer protection with F&F. I don't know how the scammer would be able to have any recourse in this situation. Obviously, I guess somehow they did, but I'm not sure how.

Sorry to hear that Nick. Looks like little Lebowski already ran away. As a forum community we should make sure he stays gone. Deplorable. The lowest form. Hearing stuff like this really angers me, it takes a cheap shot at the foundation of goodwill this community is based on.
In hindsight I can be glad that he was as irritating as he was. Otherwise I would have 'sold' my Thedi to him last week. Now I understand why he didn't want to use PayPal f&f.

The problem was that I thought he was a long standing member and he therefore could be trusted.

But when I searched for his posts on the forum, there were no real contributions other than comments on others. I think scamming was all what he was here for. Can you believe he even started his own WTB thread in the classifieds!?

https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/wtb-thedi-leather-jacket-size-l.101399/

Im glad this a-hole has now been exposed. Can you believe he even congratulated me on selling my jacket to another member!? (After I told him to get lost and that I wouldn't sell anything to him, period)

He also used other scams, not just paypal.

He bought a Shinki hh jacket from the classifieds. After it was delivered to him he told the seller that it wasn't Shinki but Italian hh instead and that he wanted part of his money back. The seller gave in just because he didn't want to get a bad review on tfl. Lebowski really abused tfl.

He was the guy i was talking about when i mentionned that when my SanMateo was for sale some guy spent 6 months harassing me with weekly lowball offers.
He was relentless, going on and on about how he really wanted the jacket, but his wife would kill him if he spent 1750 dollars on it, that i should do a good deed and sell it to him for $1000, that i should be a good man, that he was making me a favour by giving me $1000, he was the worst.
So glad i never sold him anything, i thought there was something fishy about the dude but never would have thought he was such a douche.
Hope he never comes back. I wonder if there is a way to ban his IP address?

He tried exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago with Raphael who was selling his elc b3.The sad thing is it has made me wary of friends and family purchases or selling.I will now always pay the commission to be on the safe side.It never crossed my mind before that I may be duped.

I still don't get how he managed to get his money back after paying with F&F.
@Snackson was it regular paypal or F&F, and if it was F&F how did he manage to start an eBay case?

In my case, he didn't want to use PayPal f&f, he insisted on using 'regular' PayPal and I should pay for the fees.

lebowski:

"It always causes enormously huge PP fees from over here if paying it internationally.
So, if you pay your standard sellers PP fee of 3-4% - just send me your "Thedi leather jacket" request for payment of 650 EUR and O'k I'll go up to your 650 from my 600 and will pay it!"

Then he told me I should wrap the Thedi in a plastic bag in order to save on shipping costs. That's when I knew I wasn't dealing with a jacket aficionado.

lebowski :

"Btw, you'd better package the jacket into bubbled wrapping plastic film all around the jacket and then put it into a couple of standard postal plastic bags - it'll decrease the total brutto weight noticeably and which is even more important - nobody can open that pastic postal bag on its long way to my place!"

He also made sure not to disclose his name and address anywhere on the forum:

Lebowski :
"I'm at dremnad@yandex.ru in PayPal. Send me any e-mail message from your e-mail to the very same e-mail address (dremnad@yandex.ru), I'll reply you via e-mail with full shipping address info
(just wouldn't like to write any personal info on forums, over here incl)"

Get his address posted online and we can all send him a friendly message :),I’m sad to say that the signs were all there,I warned Raphael 3 weeks ago to be careful with him.

I have his phone number, if that is indeed real. In any event, I sent @Snackson a PM offering to send over any correspondence I had with him. My case is a bit different than the rest, but the pattern of communication remains the same.

And I reimbursed Lebowski on my own; that was a decision I made on my own accord at the time. In my case, he never received the jacket (so it seems).

same spiel. It is truly strange though, as if he had experience with shady postal people in his area before. I still think that could be the case. That was more of the vibe I had at the time. If it’s a scam, he put a lot of work into it. Sadly, I’m a total “yes man” so I gave in to all of the petty demands. Hopefully first and last time having to bring a list of notes to the post office lol.

Hi guys, I really appreciate all the support and thanks for sharing your personal experiences with him. He did not use F&F but made a regular payment after he (finally) agreed to also pay the fees. And Nick, your packing instructions are almost exactly the same as what he wrote to me. He said that the Paypal account belongs to his wife. The name isn't anything that could be mistaken for "Tony". He had the "one too many" rating, so I thought he was safe to deal with but the whole email chain leading up the sale was off and shifty. No need for a whip round John, many thanks for that but it was my own stupidity that got me where I am now. Live and learn.

If not Friends and Family then how PP rule in his favour ?
Looks like it comes down to a decision about honesty, in that case there seems to be evidence to suggest you are the injured party.

Paypal did not offer any insight into their decision other than a general statement saying that they had decided in favour of the buyer and that he had provided the correct documentation. No other explanation given.

Well, as expected, Paypal denied my appeal. Given the speed with with they have responded (and over the weekend no less!) I doubt very much that they have even looked at the information provided (a link to this thread was part of it). I already knew that Paypal favours buyers over sellers (in general, I am sure there are dishonest sellers out there as well) but it is still a slap in the face. This is the only response they offer even after asking for a more detailed explanation of the valid documentation the buyer supplied that they refer to. It is exactly the same as the first response I got with the initial verdict. Learn from my mistake. Use a bank transfer or F&F when possible!
