I've been able to stretch a wool size 57 cap to 58 with no issues of deformation in the appearance.. I'm not sure if I'd try much more of a stretch. Especially in newsboys, they might get wonky in appearance afterwards.

But if I sweat badly in it the cap or get the cap wet in the rain, it'll try to revert back to 57. Then it's back on the hat stretcher
Had no probs stretching a cap 2-3 centimetres if they are made of natural fibres, i don't use a hat stretcher i just shove them on my head then pull at the sides until they fit comfortably. I don't like it when caps fit super low down on the ears i like them to fit somewhat snug

My latest vintage cap purchase, from the seventies according to the seller, it still has influences from earlier 20th century caps(even though modern looking ones started appearing in the fifties) it's very British in cut, usually worn by older gents like Albert Tatlock in corrie.

Also bought this one which is modern but the cut is very vintage and has been around a long time
