I'm thinking about picking up a waxed jacket (is that the right term?) when I'm there. Unique piece of clothing I've never seen elsewhere.
Seem to be common to both us and the bigger island next door. I've never traced the exact history of them, but it seems to me that the waxed cotton shorter jackets we see in both Ireland and Britain today largely evolved from fishermen's oilskins, via motorcycling and into the country set.
