I added one more pic to the metal button post and white button post above.

LadyDay that button is actually plastic. Hard to tell with a photograph, as Anachronism already mentioned.

FoofooGal, that's a really interesting link. I had no idea they had button competitions. Maybe we can see one of the Loungers compete?

I really like that top right hand yellow button on the previous page. Pretty!

Today's theme for VB: Black Buttons

I know this is circa 1970's but it's still cool:

This is a 1920's button that was attached to a velvet opera coat I liked wearing. However, I couldn't put this button through the buttonhole with gloves on, so I finally changed it to a rigid button.

VB, great buttons! Keep them coming!

Todays theme: Pearl.

Now, I have to say, I dont know if pearl buttons were ever used, as nearly 6-10% of the buttons I find/get/buy in lots are PEARL! The bright side is a lot of pearl was used in the 20s, so the cards from that time have the best graphics.

VB's Buttons of the Day: Brown buttons!

The two oval ones in the right hand bottom are bakelite

I think this *may* be the oldest button in my collection; the shank definately appears to be from the pre-1890's; I'd guess the mid-1850's or so. The front is leather.
