Nice wide brim Borsalino "Open Road Style" in size 7 1/2,(fits more like a 3/8). in classic Silver belly color is called "Crema".
Tall 5 1/2 crown,Brim is 2 7/8 with matching ribbons. I have a receipt from what I believe is 1942 that has the purchase price of 25.00.
The hat really is in excellent condition,Liner and sweat are excellent.Felt is nice and thick, there are a couple of faint spots on right side of crown, that are of no consequence, (Hat has been prof. cleaned by my hatter)
Overall this hat feels like it was hardly worn. Color of hat is best shown in the pic of bottom of hat.
This is a BIG hat with attitude.
Pm or email me if you have any qs.

That's a nice one, Bond - I really like the 3 ply ribbon. Is the Crema colour as light as it appears in the photos?
I must say, I'm rather happy it isn't my size so I'm not tempted :D

Very nice hat Bond... but your sales receipt is tickling my dating itch.

Do you have a store/state for the hat? Corona, NY... Corona, CA? NY adopted sales tax in 1965, California in 1933 - but the combined rate of 5% was not reached until 1967. 5% sales tax would be very high in the 1940s, I think.

That's a very good point Alan . This hat is from Gano Downs in Denver CO.
The 5% tax rate seemed high to me too if it was 40s,Unfortunately the year was not recorded on the receipt.
Any additional info would be Appreciated.

Colorado adopted a sales tax in 1935. The rate in Denver today is approximately 7.75%. That is as far as I've gotten this morning.

Any change you can post a picture of the inside tag? by the looks of it (inside out) I would have guessed mid 50s to early 60s...

After a little more research on sales tax... in 1950, Colorado levied a 2% state sales tax and the city of Denver added a 1% local tax = 3%.

Liner tag pics. Note the one that is signed and dated with a date!
Price bump 225.00 on this very fine hat that appears to be later vintage than originally thought.
