Ladies

are any of you doing any new years resolutions for 2009 in the way of beauty treaments/products?

I hereby resolve to wear RED lipstick every day (instead of my comfortable nude/browns), and to find time to fit in a pedicure every month so I can wear my peep toes all the time.

Good thread! I'm in danger of becoming that woman with the smartly dressed toddler who goes out with mismatched clothes and messy hair, so I've resolved to make 2009 a year of more glamour and style. So....

1. Lipstick every day.
2. Learn pincurls and a few other vintage hairstyles.
3. Develop a toddler friendly but vintage inspired wardrobe.

1. Moisturize more.

2. Learn how to put on eyeliner. This has been something I've never gotten, and its pretty much impossible to do vintage eyes without it.

3. Master finger-waves and finally be brave enough to darken my hair.

4. Put together wardrobe basics in '30s-'40s styles instead of ogling all the evening dresses and fascinators and stuff like that. Daywear, daywear, daywear! lol

5. Channel evening-wear fixation into figuring out how to get a somewhat subtle vintage vibe going for my wedding. Actually make decisions instead of going "oh I like that...and that... and that..." on websites.

1. Exercise! So that I can fit into all the gorgeous 26 inch waist dresses i find.
2. Become more practiced in hair rolling.
3. Learn to sew. I received a White machine and a sewing stash for Christmas. time to use the.
4. be more love-y with my boy. he deserves it. ;)

Oh my gosh! :rage: I have post pregnancy acne too, and it's been going on for 8 months now. I'm thinking of just going on Diane-35. It pricey but it did wonders for my skin a few years ago.

My resolutions....
1. Keep the house super clean.
2. Wear makeup and vintage hair when I leave the house.
3. Start lifting weights again - get ripped/fit.

Excellent thread!

1. Put make-up on everyday.
There are days when we're just laying around and I stay sloppy all day long. I want to be able to answer the door and look fabulous!
2. Learn more vintage hair styles.
I have about 3 go-to styles that just look vintage--I want to learn some of the actual ways to do it.
3. Learn to give myself a proper manicure and pedicure.
Money's going to be tight for a while until we can sell our house, so I've had my acryllic nails removed so I can start doing manicures rather than fills (even by a pro, it's way cheaper!). But I want to leanr to do it for myself as well.
4. (Kind of beauty related) Toss/donate all the old clothes, make-up, and shoes I no longer use/wear to make room for "new" vintage items. This includes household goods!

My 2009 Goals*

- Try to be more active so I can feel better.
- Make little changes to my diet so I eat healthier.
- Learn to tactfully reply to any negativity with a thoughtful reply instead of just getting flustered or caught up in the drama.
- Learn to conduct myself like a NVL - having just the right thing to say when it needs to be said, etc.
- Make it a point to be a more pleasant person - without legal addictive stimulants! ;)
- Learn to love myself no matter what I think my short comings may be (unless they prevent me from living a healthy, happy life).

*I fully intend to work on these, however I am a perfectionist and a procrastinator so I cannot make any promises!

  1. be kinder to myself
  2. knit from my stash
  3. sew more instead of buying more
  4. lose the last pesky 36 pounds of the 172 total I have had to lose.
  5. moisturize more often at night
  6. take my vitamins

Inky, it is amazing to me that you have lost over a hundred pounds! At 5'7", 173 is what I weigh right now, and have trouble losing even a few.

Here is what I hope to do in the new year:
1.Get my bum knee fixed so I can start dancing again
I've had to lay off dancing and aerobics since Thanksgiving, my darn right knee makes so much noise and hurts when I climb stairs.
2.Drink less
Its so hard to stop at one. and I know its fattening
3.Keep my house clean
Its clean now, for the holidays, but its so easy get get into the old messy habits

I've been thinking about this, too.

For me it's:

  1. Join a darn gym, so I can lose some weight and get into some pretty vintage.
  2. Start wearing lipstick again daily, especially red.
  3. Learn to set my hair. Some way.
  4. Master black eyeliner.
  5. And false eyelashes.

Since I just moved to another state I am attempting to be brave (real brave) and let my hair go gray.
I figure noone knows me so hey! lol
It is about 1 inch gray at top so far. Wearing my winter hat alot lately.
May be liberating eventually. lol
When I see my sister next time she will probably pass out. :D
