Ladies, I just set up an exhibition of my vintage swimwear at Ballarat Trades Hall - for those of you in Australia, it's part of Ballarat's annual Heritage Weekend (in Victoria).

It's open Saturday and Sunday but for those who can't make it, here are some pics of my swimsuits - displayed are 22 styles from the late '20s to the '70s, with many from the 1930s and 1950s especially. Here is one of my favourites: a 1940s bikini -

and a 1950s cotton swimsuit -

You can see more at my blog. I hope it's okay to post a link - I have a retail vintage clothing shop but the website functions as a non-selling site, a blog talking about events.

Not a bathing suit, but still in theme with this thread - this cute Gabriella Rocha romper/playsuit is on sale at 6pm.com for $54. Available in white and black.

Welcome to the FL. Wish I could come to Australia. I met a fab older lady last month on Holiday from there. Such friendly people I have met from there.

Love the polka dot suit....:eusa_clap

I'm interested in the target swimsuit however I'm confused on their size chart! They don't have a seperate chart for those? I'd appreciate any input. I'm desperate for a new suit!

Ladies, check out these sweet cotton swimsuits from Ceeb. Actually looks like a pretty great romper to me! They are currently on sale at $69 down from $110.

Supporting the girls~

I don't like how my bust looks unless I'm wearing an underwire padded bra.

I just bought a cute patriotic suit at Walmart for only $10. A halter style top, which has pads, but it's not enough.

Has anyone ever tried sewing part of a bra into a swimsuit? I think I could just cut off the straps, etc... and attach it?

You should just go to the fabric store and buy sew-in cups. Much less hassle.

I have some of those Kitty, and tried it on with them and it just doesn't do it either. Only looks good when I try it on over my bra, lol... gotta have that wire I guess!

My grandmother had a suit very similar to the second gal in the pic,

I thought Marilyn Monroe sported one too but cannot find the pic. [huh]

I bought a vintage inspired White Stag swimsuit a few weeks ago at one of my usual haunts, unworn. It's totally cute, black, with halter neck, wrapped at he bust and sideseam shirring. When I got home, I did a little online googling and was shocked to find it at walmart.com for $30!

They're not available right now, maybe out of stock? But keep an eye out. I'm sure happy with mine. I'd say they run true to size.
