A great looking jacket!
Did you spec the sleeves that length?
Thank you - yes I asked Rip to shorten the sleeves from 68cm to 65cm based on the fit of my first lightning jacket - might have been hair too much but not bothered about it too much. Kinda balances out the longer body of the jacket on this one vs the lightning. (this one also being 3cm longer than my lightning)

I’m happy that you received it but why the sleeves. They were literally perfect. I’m not even joking when I say this that I literally saved your photo below in my phone so I could send it to RIP as the way I wanted my jacket to fit.

The new one needs to settle in but it looks puffy in the middle but that’s probably just from being folded.

The good news is you have received and please update this when you have had a chance to wear it more like your other one because it will surely loosen up and mold yo your body.

*edit*. Is the build quality still on par with your other?

The longer sleeves would bother me as they kept hitting my upper palm/wrist area on my lightning, so I decided to experiment, I know the sleeves are meant to shrink as they develop more rolls but I feel like as the back shoulder area stretches, that well offset the sleeve shrinkage, so all in all they won't move that much.

Besides, it makes deciding which jacket to go with easier depending on which sleeve length i wanna go with in case I wanna go with the 70s slimmer/shorter punk look some days :)

As long as it’s comfortable they look fine, like a member said before that shorter sleeves tend to shrink less.

It’s not hard to imagine he’s probably terrible to work for and that’s why he can’t expand and have a normal operation like the Japanese brands. Any intelligent person with his talents would hire a few machinists and an office person to handle day to day and you would then see California Sportswear on standardandstrainge.com, rivetandhide.com etc.

This is incredibly uncharitable, not to mention he actually did hire someone… a guy named Greg Field, only COVID happened and killed the possibility.

Also bizarre to see you taking this line when BK's "vintage line" as mentioned many times in this discussion (not just with Marc's new posts) is literally just BK using Lightning magazine photos as "models" they offer, which in reality they'll just make from the photo.

What do you mean by 'normal operation like the Japanese brands'? The Japanese brands are not one-off guys like Greg or John, or small shops like Lewis. They're part of big companies with big investors.

Just an update from Lewis this morning guys. Basically said what we already knew.
A different guy named Steve, said he was sorry and that he just start and they were going through a transitioning period and would refund me. Good news but I just just can’t wrap my head around being an owner of a business and not handling this situation themselves. I can see someone relying on a machinist and a person to size but you still must know how to do the job or how else are you to train the new hires. All along I knew there has to be someone who knows how to size a leather jacket.

I hope that everything is going to be back on track not for me but for anyone else that is waiting.

That’s what I figured, they had some new person who was being trained on the fly but maybe not quite settled into the new role.
Glad you got your money back. Maybe Lewis can be an option down the road when they develop their new Rip. For now there are many other options!

Yeah I have no hard feelings, it’s business and they still make a cool jacket. No doubts about that.

I honestly think they were distracted by this concert that they were a part of, they had been advertising on instagram for weeks and the band were wearing LL jackets so this might of been a big promotional deal for them.

London is literally the home to the best or atleast done if the best tailoring in the world. I know leather is different but once you get a feel for the material a great tailor should catch on quickly. That’s what it’s all about, making people of all shapes and sizes look good in their garments.

Out of curiosity, what concert/band was that? I completely missed it

Anyone know the difference between a Dominator and a Corsair, other than the pocket configuration? They look fairly similar otherwise . Thanks.

They are similar, but I think the Corsair is a bit shorter. When I tried them both on in the store, the Corsair felt smaller than the Dominator. @MrProper has a custom Corsair so he knows more- I have a stock Dominator.

In response to my question about the differences between Dominator and Corsair, Rip wrote to me at the time: "It is the same pattern as the Dominator just without the breast pockets and the hand warmer pockets are slightly different angle."

Just wanted to update everyone that they still have not refunded my $1,597.19

Over two weeks ago they told me they had processed it. Obviously I contacted my credit card and they put a temporary credit while they investigate but this is just not what I expected from this company.

These guys ship all over the world, what you see in that shop is just some of it, from what I was told they have a separate manufacturing site where they produce these jackets.

They really don’t have complaints other than a few minor manufacturing issues which happen to anyone so I can’t understand how they can’t process this refund.

The only experience worse than this was some keychains from a French site which ended up sending my order to some African country. Which they also ignored communication and I had to dispute that charge.

All is well that ends well, this just opened my eyes to other manufacturers which through communication actually seem to value your business which makes you feel better when dropping large sums of money on items that everyday people would probably think we are crazy.
