I’ve only seen the Enfield in Brandy Roma. It’s a very nice cowhide and it feels broken in from the get-go. It drapes nicely and is very soft. I would say it’s actually very comparable in feel to the Pinnacle leather I had my jacket made in. I think it’s about 1.2 or 1.3 mm thick, but I don’t remember exactly. I would check with Vanson to confirm the thickness. Here are some photos of the jacket I tried on.
Thanks and congrats on that beautiful jacket, how long was the wait btw?

I’m considering ordering 2 mavericks on the next vanson sale, ideally I would like an olive and a burgundy so ordering the olive and merlot roma seems like the way to go but I’ve yet to see any pics of those leathers aside from the vanson swatches posted here, and then there’s the wait if I could even get those made.

Otoh the maverick is currently available in granite and brandy roma, which are kinda close to olive and burgundy respectively albeit more like slate and redwood but again I’ve yet so see pics of the granite aside from vanson stock pics and swatches.

Also your pics of the brandy just confirmed it’s definitely more of a burgundy-ish brown than a brown-ish burgundy.

The Maverick is a really cool jacket! It will be really comfortable in Roma. It took about 3 months to make my jacket once I placed the order.

Vanson will send you Roma samples, just call and ask. Good luck with your order!

That's good news! I ordered my Maverick August 10th....just a plain ole black comp weight...

Are they making it for you or did you order from stock?
They had none in my size so they are making three sizes (48, 50 and 52) and sending all three for fit. I’m usually a 50. Guess they don’t get a lot of 52 Maverick requests?

That’s great they’re going to send you different sizes to try on. They did that for me too, and it was incredibly helpful because I normally wear a 44, but the 42 ended up being the right size for me. Did they give you an ETA?

Bet that was hard to leave behind. Vanson is such an overachieving brand versus their marketing
It’s a veggie tan cowhide (according to my notes) and the one they sent for me to try on was lovely, but too big. I would definitely consider it for a future purchase. I could see ordering a Maverick in this leather.

Horsehide RiRi zip Vanson in JP in my size:
Leather looks lovely, likely width measured weirdly, ~1cm too long for my taste in the body.
I've had one 34 model B that was too narrow in the chest for me and another 34 model B that was very nice in the chest for me, so it's rather inconsistent.
Condition looks great, price is rather decent although not great.
Thoughts from Vanson experts? Worth a gamble?

I had Vanson Ike in this hide, also with RiRi zippers which were standard for Vanson Europe and Japan horsehide line.

This leather is thick and stiff as hell.

They cost $1200 new. I know because mine had the old price tag. Got it from @Mrfrown ! It was a little tight so I moved it on, but definitely a quality jacket and built like a tank. Don't expect soft leather, though. I don't think it will ever be soft - my jacket was 10 years old and stiff as a board.

I say worth a shot if you are okay with the above.

I was going back through this thread again and this time I noticed that your jacket seems much deeper and richer in color than the one I tried on. Would you attribute that to patina?

I’ve only had it for a few months so not enough time for patina. Must be some colour variation between leather batches.

Just an update on this in case others are wondering about the olive or merlot roma as well.

I was able to find/see some decent pics of both and sadly for me the olive is too light and I’m looking for something more like an antique wine bottle green, so now I’m leaning towards maybe something in Y2’s olive eco horse.

The merlot is definitely in the red territory and no where near burgundy, and the brandy is just too brown and not enough burgundy tones to sway me since I already have a similar cocoa/chocolate brown, so now I’m leaning towards either something in cordovan or keep waiting for a good proxy to help me get a matte burgundy grainy buffalo.
