OP, where are you finding all of these Vanson Model E's / Highwayman's?

I'm in the market for one currently and not finding any...

Most off eBay. A few new from Vanson. For a time there I was a man possessed. It is imho one of the single best jackets one can own.
All things considered. I agree. It’s a great model/design. Works great on a bike, but also looks badass off it. Vanson does better than mall jacket construction, hardware, and stitching. Now they aren’t on some especially Japanese maker insane attention to detail. But it’s like half the cost of them for most models. You get all of that for under a grand on most of these. That’s new. Off eBay or on the lounge here they are hundreds. Really can’t go wrong. I have a brand new chopper in CW. But got a 90s era E from a fellow lounger and it’s just so usable in so many situations. And you could mess around with different collars and belts if you’d like as well. End of my rambling.

I have a Vanson Model B and it just blows my previous Schotts out of the f***ing water.

I live in LA and am spoiled with stores (Schott, Self Edge, SOP, Stronghold)... I’ve tried on jackets double, triple the price and still preferred the ‘ol Vanson for the money.

Just a bit big for it these days and want to use that as an excuse to scoop another slightly bigger one up that I can use for now, and layer under it in the future. This seems like a solid candidate.

Or sell it and buy another..?

I just got one a few weeks ago.

I have to say it's a lot stiffer than I thought.
The left side has so many pocket that the overlapping layers makes it feel like I'm wearing a cardboard box!
Is this normal? Are others finding them this stiff? It's basically new, so maybe it needs to be broken in? On the bike I imagine that more "armor" is better but off the bike it feels very clunky.

BTW B1LF, you can try mine on if you want and can fit in a 42.

Spot on comment. It's as close to being a perfect cross zip as it gets. Quilted lining version is also very warm. One got me thru the worst of last years winter.

Some of the features of that jacket are quite impressive. like a leather lined inside pocket. Don't see that on some of the much pricier jackets. IMO, E is one of those jackets where you truly get your moneys worth back.

My E was exactly like that as well. Annoyingly so but that's how Vanson rolls so yeah, it's perfectly normal, especially on the left side. They've been using this super stiff hide for a while now so short of getting something older, any new Vanson jacket would feel like that. You just have to wear it a lot but... It might take you years to get it to the point where it's soft(er). Stiff hide tends to remain stiff.

That’d be awesome. I have a size 38 in Model B and that has the same 6.5” chest ease as the Model E according to Vanson themselves... so I’ll be a 40, 42 in this jacket for a comfortable fit.

Did you order quilted or non-quilted lining?

I think the jackets v price point can't be beaten especially in the heavy leather
