You may have seen the problems some of us smaller guys have had with the sizing of the US Wings jackets. I wrote to them... 40 inch chest 1XXlb etc etc. They came back and said we have a medium that should suit you fine! I played it safe i thought so got a Goatskin A2 in Small. It swamped me!

Ok, round 2, let's try a XS! After a lot of tooing and frowing with USW who are crazily suspicious of international buyers BTW (They won't even take AMERICAN Express) but I finally got one that fits. Sleeves are good, it's fine in the shoulders and the leather is nice, would have preferred goat but this will do nicely. Most jackets are a bit long on me but this ok. At $79.99 a bargain.

Thanks for the heads up Michaelson I can stave off my urge to buy an Aero for a few months.

The jacket looks good KT.

In reading about these USW jackets I am amazed at how large the sizing runs. I expect variations in size from different manufactureres but USW appears to run extermely large.

Does anyone know why this is?

(there's an old crude joke about depth perception running through my head...)

Seriously, I think we have a different idea of 'fit' than the modern american male.

Whether it be preference, ignorance, or function (fitting aorund huge guts or over bulky sweaters), I think the market in general expects a very roomy fitting jacket. Maybe USW is trying to cater to that?

Whether the trend be massive beerbellies OR gym-rat upper bodies OR XXXXXXL gangsta hoodies, quite a few present day males REQUIRE as oversize a fit as possible. Add to that the vast number who don't think about it much other than looser=comfier, and you have 95% of the market right there.

I am not sure who requires these overly large sizes. Other than exploiting a hip hop trend (or should it properly be called prison garb), I rarely see fellows who need such oversize jackets.
Beerbellies and broad shoulders included.

Exploiting a market, yes. A necessity, not sure about that. I agree most people could care less about the fit of their clothes.

I must have got lucky with my Indy goat, because it fits like a charm. It is a size xl and fits like it was custom made for me.
Oh, KT your jacket looks great!!!

KT the jacket looks great. I have a 47 inch chest with 36 sleeve, so I fell when it comes to getting a good fit. You said you wished it was goat...I take it that this jacket is distressed cow?

Sorry, to bring this little thread back but I thought you'd might enjoy a little development. The jacket is pretty nice, but the "Vintage" effect was a little too suedy for my taste.

Sooo, I go myself a pot of Pecards and got to work. All I can say is... it's worked wonders. I'm very pleased with the results so far.

And the the Pecard fans out there, I know, I know... "I told you so".

Wow!

I am a long time Pecards fan and I must tell you, it looks fabulous. You did a great job. The grain is really popping out now!

The loose fit thing. I trend to like a looser fit in my jackets as I do not like to drive in a tight jacket. And I also trend to wear quite a few sweaters in the coler months.
