USPS Ground Advantage Gripes

I got my mailman fired after showing proof he was tossing my mail and packages into an empty lot. Literally just throwing them out the window onto the ground. Sad part is that it was within 20 feet of my mailbox. He had to drive past my very well marked mailbox to toss everything out onto the ground. USPS of course.
They said it was because their GPS said that's where my address is in their system.
UPS makes it a point to put packages on my doorstep and will even stack and tidy up if there are multiple packages.
FedEx delivers explosives to my neighbor instead of me. Always makes for a laugh.

Yup. I do a lot of reloading of ammunition and order in powder and primers quite often. FedEx will deliver them across the street more often than not.

After reading some of the post that have been made about the USPS, I decided to contact my local Congressman, I received a response yesterday, I filled out the paper work today and included copies of every email that I received from the USPS, a complete description of the hat that was lost, copies of letters sent to my customer, copies of postage paid total amount lost because of the USPS, basically a folder in 1 envelope, I want my hat found and if someone is wearing, I want them in jail and my hat back.

I figured that you reloaded your own ammo, I has a neighbor that reloaded his own ammo, I wish that I had the equipment and knowledge to reload my own rounds, I like my six shooter 45LC, Ruger, I need some new handles for it, pearl would look good.

I received a response this morning from the USPS telling me that they are sorry but they have been unable to find my package. I tried to send a reply, however my emails are returned to me telling me that the email address is setup for out going emails, and I have tried several email addresses including the postmaster, not one of the email addresses were setup to receive my message. I have always been surprised to hear that the USPS has never made a profit even with the postage increase cost of stamps, now I can see why they are always at a loss. Like I said before, I think that one of their trusted employees took my package home or walked out of the building with a new hat on their head.

I have had more issues with FedEx and other couriers than with USPS. In Canada our postal system loses Billions of dollars each year and has to be subsidized by our tax dollars. The total volume on mail has dropped from 5 billion pieces a year down to 1.5 billion in the last two decades. No one mails letters any longer. I sent a parcel from here to Philly via UPS and it was 3 days quicker and about $5 cheaper than Canada Post. Up here in Canada, the post office needs to change or die.

Only thing worse than losing mail is having USPS/ Fed Exs International mail contractor seize an overseas package claiming it was some restricted item. I recently lost a rare old smoking pipe from Ireland. ( never knew that a piece or briar root was a dangerous thing) Made it from Northern Ireland, to England, to Chicago where it was seized. My payment was refunded by ebay, but the seller lost his item. Im guessing someone at the airport in Chicago wanted a new pipe. I hate thieves almost as much as Im intolerant of stupididy

Hope yours magically shows up someday

My guess is, if they see something that they think that they shoud have theyw will find a reason to take it from you. The only thing that was dangerous was letting them inspect the package, that is the way that I see it. The best idea is not to put anything on the label that would give them any idea as to the contents, that will increase the chance of you getting what is yours.

I don't blame you. I'd feel the same way. I'm sure someone is wearing the $250.00 down jacket I posted about, that they didn't pay for. I'm in the clear. The company sent me a replacement jacket, via UPS this time. It still makes me mad though.

Well, at least you got a response. I never even got that much. I hope the USPS never gets their EV delivery trucks. They don't deserve them.

Thats what Im thinking.... Ive read of cases where seized things appering for sale on ebay a few months later. In particular, Pitney Bowles International shipping hub in Chicago seems to have a reputation for seizing " restricted " items ( thats who grabbed my pipe). Unfortunately Im guessing the Customs declaration on the package triggers things

Yes I received a response, however they have assigned 5 different lost mail request numbers to the same package, and they also added another number when they upgraded the search request. A total of 6 numbers for one lost package, they are so busy assigning numbers to the lost package, they don't have time to look for the damn package, I have to wonder if they actually got off their over paid ass and found the package which number would they attach to the package and would I get the package back? I know that the government likes to file everything in triplicate, so working with a total of 6 different numbers, what do you think that the end result will be????? Some dipstick sitting in the corner wearing my hat or using it to pull a number from that he or she likes before they respond. I was watching NewsMax recently and they reported that the USPS has a deficit of 9.5 Billion for 2024, that has trippled since the previous year. I can't remember who it was, but someone suggested closing the USPS department, because all they delivery any more is shopping magazines and the majority of those are tossed in the trash.

So what was on the customs declaration that would cause the idiots to seize a smoking pipe? I bet that they wouldn't give it a second thought if it had been labeled as a vap pipe. They may have seen the contents listed as a pipe and thought that it was a different type of pipe, you know, something that they could use.

Customs declaration was "tobbaco smoking pipe" ( Ive read that England has some stiff regulations on exporting tobacco products so non-tobacco related products have to be declared in order to get through)

In Canada parcels go through an Xray inspection prior to them being released by customs. Any discrepancy between contents and description almost assures a physical inspection.

I've had a hat on the way since November 24. It spent 9 days at the USPS hub in Indianapolis and has been listed as " in transit to the next location" since Wednesday. The seller contacted the USPS and initiated a missing package claim but the postmaster at my town closed the case Friday even though I still don't have the hat. I called my local post office and was told the issue is that this package was shipped GROUND and is in a truck out back with lots of other packages. Because it was shipped by GROUND it will be one of the last items they will process. Ground Advantage and Priority Mail are done first,, no matter what. She then told me it could be as much as a month before they get my package processed, especially since it is the holiday season. What a bunch of BS !!

Ground Advantage and any other choice with the USPS is like gambling, throwing dice your odds would be better. The morons sent me another letter and they were nice enough to tell me that the package that they lost might be in their lost mail department and it could take up to a year before they open the package. They even apologized for any inconvenience that the loss may have caused me, the loss has cost me a lot, the amount of money that I was left with after the USPS screw up, would not even cover the cost of the materials needed to make one hat. And the USPS was kind enough to apologize, so I guess that I am supposed to feel better about all of that. Actually I have never seen such incompentence, so much for the old mail carriers motto. I use to have trust in the USPS, not anymore. So Ground Advantage and Priority Mail are done first, looks like Ground Advantage and Priority Mail are first to be lost.

Here's my latest fun package. Sent from Washington State to one place in Indianapolis, then to another place in Indianapolis, then back to the first place in Indianapolis, then eventually to Palmetto, GA, then to another facility near Atlanta, then back to Palmetto again. Still waiting for it and paid $45 shipping for this incompetence.
