As most of you know, we have published the premiere issue of Classic Style magazine. We have entered into an agreement with Barnes & Nobles for them to carry it in all 700 of their USA stores. Under this agreement, Classic Style is supposed to be in two places in the stores. It is to be in the men's interest section and in what they call the "power column". That is a premium position that is basically a post about five feet high with magazines on four sides.

We are paying several thousand dollars for this in order to get Classic Style out there. The promotion started January 28th and should run the month of February.

Truth be told I could couldn't care less about the power column. I never look at those "special sections"....except the ones by the cash register. Our goal is to have it in the men's interest area. I always go straight to the section I am interested in...and I suspect most people do the same. I stopped by our local B&N yesterday and discovered it was in the power column but not in the men's interest section. Not good.

Here is where I need your help: I can't visit 700 stores to varify they are following through. I need you to be the eyes and ears in your area. It would be a huge help if you could visit B&N stores in your area and check the men's interest and power column to see if Classic Style is there.

Please post in this thread what you find. We need to know the store number, city, state and the date you were there. Tell us if it is one, both or not at all.

This will help our magazine. If Classic Style is a big hit, it will further our cause of companies creating the kinds of clothes, luggage, furnature that we love. Also small companies that already make the wonderful goods we enjoy will receive a greater audience. I really do believe we can make a difference.

Thank you for your support! I am grateful for your help.

Tomorrow is mental health day.

For me. That means I'm taking a vacation day on a Monday as is my custom,(and besides, I always celebrate Groundhog Day) so I will check my local B&N store. In fact, there are two stores in my general vicinity that I can check some time soon.

I'm not sure of the store number (do you mean phone number or actual store number?) but, the Barnes and Noble on Court Street in Brooklyn has it, but not in the Men's Interest Section. I saw it with other style magazines but, it is pretty prominent on the outer aisle. I was there Thursday February 1, 2007. I'll be there again later this week so I will let you know.

A friend of mine frequents a B&N in Manhattan I'll ask him to take a look.

I don't know the store number, but I know there's a stack in the men's interest section (bottom row) in the Barnes & Nobles in El Segundo, CA. Didn't check any "power columns", but next time I go I'll take a look. I was there about 3 weeks ago.

Store #2042 in Holland, MI: CS was in the Men's Interests section. I don't think the store has a "power column". I was there (and picked up a copy) on 1/29.

Store #2008 in Grandville, MI (Rivertown Crossing Mall): I haven't seen CS yet which is surprising as this is the largest B&N in the area. I was there on 2/1.

Just came from the Tyson's Corner, VA store (McLean, VA?). Don't know the store number. The magazine is in both locations. That's where I found mine, which let me ultimately to this website. I'm already looking forward to the next issue.

MK,

I ran into the opposite of what you saw at my local B&N. Not in any of the power columns, but it was in the Men's section. (In fact I'm reading it now :D ) Unfortunately, it was mostly hidden behind other magazines, and I could only see the top half of "Clas." If I hadn't known what I was looking for, I probably would have missed it.

This was in the Christiansburg, VA store. Unfortunately, I don't have the store number.

By the way, great first issue! :eusa_clap

The next time I am in Savannah I will go by the Barnes and Noble and check it out. I do not know if I may make it to Hilton Head, but I will try to check there for you also. I have looked when I have been in there before, out of curiosity since I have a subscription, and have not seen it.

By the way, great job with the premier issue.

Lounge Agent #13 checking in

When I went to the Barnes and Noble on Fourth Street in Santa Rosa I noticed the magazine in men's interest. I was in hurry but next time I'll jockey it to a prime position (in front of Maxim?).;)

I bought two copies at the new B&N on 46th & Fifth (Store # 2234). It is on display with GQ, Best Life, et al. in the magazine section. It is also located on a rack along the checkout line.

BTW, the Magazine is FANTASTIC! I gave one copy to my secretary who is now looking for a fedora for her husband!

How to find Store Numbers

To determine the store number of you local Barnes and Noble bookstore:

1) Go to their website and type in your zip code in the Store Locator box on the left side of the screen.
2) When the results are listed click on the store location of interest.
3) The store number is shown at the end of the web address in the address bar (typically at the top of the screen).

(Or just ask for the store number when you visit or call the store.)
