Uncle Fezter's hair flowers

I am always seeing these really beautiful flowers on various pin up models. Turn out they are Uncle Fezters. I can not seem to figure out how to order from him. Looks to be a myspace page but how on earth does one go about ordering herself a bunch of lovely (hair) flowers? I've long deleted my own myspace page.

PS, there are plenty of other places that sell gorgeous, high-quality hair flowers. Or you can make your own, it's really easy.

I'd be interested to know about ordering from Uncle Fezter as well... I've made some hair flowers on my own with some pretty decent results, but I want to buy one to put on a hat and want an extra-beautiful, professional one. Uncle Fezter's flowers are gorgeous!

I prefer a double-pronged pincurl clip and will attach them to larger flowers, mostly. I think there's a thread here someplace on hair flowers and where to buy them, and making them yourself. I can't recommend a place to buy because I don't buy things I can make myself for a fraction of the price.

Fezter is a good Baltimore fella. All you have to do is point out to him *which* of the hairflowers on his myspace you are interested in, and paypal him with that flower in the title/reference box. I haven't checked lately, but the last time I looked, all his "how to order" info was listed in both his myspace information and in his pictures portfolio.
I love his flowers. I have fine hair, so I have to make sure I don't order the really elaborate designs, as they can be a little too heavy for my tresses, but his construction is hard to beat.

On top of that, he's a real doll.

I used to make them and used double-prong pin-curl clips too! For larger flowers, though, I'd use a crocodile clip. A metal one rather than plastic. I did enjoy making them, and sold them online and in some concrete shops too, but I kept burning myself with hot-glue!!!

I don't mass produce, and I work hard to make sure that each piece is a one-of. So my output's never been very high. And now I'm teaching full-time... But I try to get at least two new batches posted each month.

I have to say I really respect what you do, my family is in the flower business and the price of really quality silks has skyrocketed. Some people have no idea that it can cost twenty or more dollars for a single stem and that is cost, with no markup.

I am going to scramble through my closet and see which of the flowers I will get the most mileage out of.

Again- Thank you for the very kind comments.

Yeah- materials costs are a heckuva thing, and it's getting worse not better. The thing is, I didn't start making these to make money (or even to sell originally), so the 'bottom line' has never been a factor. As long as my name's attached to 'em, I'm gonna be more concerned with quality and price.

...This isn't something I'm ever gonna get rich from, as you probably know.

There should be some new pieces posted in the next few days. I'm working on several different Bird of Paradise and Orchid pieces, before I tackle a big wedding gig.

I've never liked hot glue - it peels off too easily. Best to use an industrial strength cold adhesive like E6000. It smells bad and takes a day or so to dry, but it won't give up its hold.

There's a lot going on with adhesives, beyond temps. I've worked in both museums and archives, and if ya want stuff to last, ya gotta take into account factors like off-gassing, chemical reactions, discoloring, deterioration, etc, etc, etc.

My basic rule with most things is: The least number of ingredients, the better.

As far as using hot glue... It all depends on the glue type, its operating temp, how ya use and apply it, and what materials you're using it on & with. Getting the right gun is also a big factor.
