The Real McCoy’s J-100 fit comparison between the old model (BJ9110) and new model (BJ19110)

I have a question for this group. I have a RMC j-100 (old fit) in a size 40. It fits good - fairly snug as I have a fairly broad chest and shoulders due to being athletic. I can comfortable wear it over a T-shirt but cant wear a hoody or anything due to the snuggness and the arm holes being too high up towards my armpits. I'm considering getting another one, and can't decide between:
A. Try to find a old-fit in a 42, or
B. Get the new fit in a 40.
Do you guys know how much roomier the new-fit 40 will be compared to the old fit?

Also, I feel like my sleeves are a little short in my current 40. Was thinking that a slightly roomier shoulder will give a little extra sleeve length as well.

I attached a pic of my current for reference

Thanks. I appreciate any help I can get,
Ben

The armholes and sleeve width in the old fit ones is a fair amount smaller than the new, but its not mitigated by the tag size all that much in my experience - I had an old fit 44 and it was pretty roomy in the body, but very tight around the armholes - not so the new fit 44 I got a while later.

Thanks for this. Do you feel like the shoulders were any wider or basically the same?

One question when did the new model come out. I don't know which model is mine
I believe that any jacket made after 2021 will follow the new fit. While I haven’t tried the new J-100 style, I did try a different model, and here’s my take on the comparison between the old and new fits:

The old fit has more room in the shoulders, higher armholes, and tighter sleeves. The body, however, is more spacious, offering a roomier feel overall.

In contrast, the new fit (which required me to size down) feels smaller in the shoulders, and the sleeves were actually too short due to the smaller size. The new cut offers a more modern silhouette, with more comfortable armholes and a more fitted body.

For my body type, I find that the old style fits better. I don’t have long arms, but if I want a more fitted look, I have to size down with the new cut. However, I wonder if this is true across all styles, as sleeve length might be an issue.

Shawnzie pretty much nailed it regarding the fit of the old vs new and comparing sizing down on the new fit. Agree on the fact that any jacket made after 2021 is the new fit.
I’ve tried to crop my original photos to help show the difference in fit in 2 similar sizes. These are both the Real McCoy’s J100 old fit then new fit front and then side.
They are both a size 38, I’m 5’8 and 69kg. I felt the old fit worked better but it was definitely tighter on the sleeves and shoulders. The arm holes are higher on the old fit, sleeves around the same length, the front drop on the new fit was longer, which I didn’t like and the fit was boxier on the new fit. I wear the old fit jacket with a t-shirt only but can layer a shirt underneath but it gets restrictive.
One last thing, to me the leather on the old fit was much nicer, it was stiffer (both were in almost new condition when bought) but the grain was better, was difficult to break in but I’m satisfied I kept the old fit and sold on the newer model.
I may upload some more recent and better quality pics of the old fit jacket now it’s Broken in to show the fit better, it’s definitely way better now I’ve worn it a lot and it’s gotten wet quite a few times.

Here are some pictures I took today - old fit size 38 worn on off about a year. The fit is maybe too snug for some peoples taste but it’s how I prefer the fit
