Trucker suggestions

I've got 5 trucker style jackets (Vanson Maverick, Schott #121, Iron Heart III, Aero III and a Fox Creek - image attached) and the Aero and Vanson are the best of the bunch. Both fit me well and are made to take it although the Vanson is the more robust of the two. The Schott #121, which I got in late 2021 is OK but the leather has a kind of vegan vibe to it with little character or grain. It is well made and the leather is very smooth/soft but now the price is $985.00 which is Aero territory and if your considering new I'd go with Aero or Vanson. The Iron Heart Type III is made of Japanese horsehide and is impressive in every way. The Fox Creek trucker jacket is very heavy and well made and the leather is quite grainy and pliable. I got mine in 2011 and sadly it is no longer offered.

I consider the trucker jacket to be one of the best leather outerwear jackets for most any occasion.
Enjoy the hunt and pick one that appeals to you the most.

What size is the Fox Creek and what is its P2P? Thanks.

Great snapshot! Your Maverick looks sharp - one of my favorite Type III/Trucker jackets. Are your friends aware that one of their global associates contributed to such a fine jacket?
Don't think it's giving them the horn....

I have the Lewis Western in their racing green vegtan sheep - its a great jacket and the perfect combo of hide and pattern in my view….that said, I have an Aero in their new chocolate goatskin roughout in production, so will be able to compare and contrast soon!

What size is the Fox Creek and what is its P2P? Thanks.

The Fox Creek is a size 44 - the P2P is 24" and the shoulder is 21, waist 20, sleeve 24.5 as is the back length. The jacket has hand warmer pockets. The fit is not as snug as most trucker jackets (including my others) and the leather does not creak unlike most of my other leather outerwear. BTW, Your Lewis Leather jacket is quite special - don't see many of them on the forum.

Regarding the Aero you have in production, could you provide your order date and when you were contacted regarding initial review? I submitted an order for a Type III in Natural Vicenza about a week ago and haven't heard from Aero about the order. I did mention in the comments I had obtained a size 44 Type III (Navy) back in Sept. 22 and the new jacket was exactly like the Navy one but in Natural w/different lining. Thanks a heap.

Thanks Mickiemac, much appreciated. I’m looking at one and it looks smaller in the pics. The inaccurate measurement pics aren’t helping. You have a cool collection of truckers.

I will agree with most of the consensus here and say that a leather trucker jacket cannot be longer than your belt line. 24" probably optimal for an average height person (aka not @MrProper ).

Personally, I think 23" is about right for my 5'10" frame, perhaps even as short as my vintage Lee 22" denim version. I also prefer them without handwarmers, but I will get to that in a bit…

Here is my Aero 101J. I think it's the best trucker I've ever seen, personally (thanks @Monitor ). But I'm a HUGE fan of the Lee, more than any other trucker style made, so I might a bit biased.

I never even really liked truckers much growing up, even though I had a few. It took the Lee design to really lead me to appreciate how awesome they are.

Hi - it was about a month between placing the order and them contacting me for the initial check - it varies from order to order tbh, so I would not worry yet if you just placed the order a week ago. Mine is currently in the finishing stage so I can report back on the full timeline when it arrives.

Is the color in these photos an accurate assessment of what the jacket looks like in real life? It's a great looking jacket, but I always assumed that Lewis's "British Racing Green" would look more like this:

Is the color in these photos an accurate assessment of what the jacket looks like in real life? It's a great looking jacket, but I always assumed that Lewis's "British Racing Green" would look more like this:

There is a range (albeit quite limited of course) of shades that qualify as British Racing Green. For instance, I love the green in the classic roadsters you linked, but you rarely see that except on motorcycles these days.

Wow. Out of all these truckers, the old denim one has caught my eye the most. I never really considered a Storm Rider, but to eBay I go. Sigh...it never ends.
