Apparently part of the reason he was changed to a Camaro was because they actually did some research with the volume, proportions etc. of the VW Beetle and found it wouldn't be able to transform to that height and width. Spoiler-> Obviously, other things in the movie like the huge Allspark going down to the size of a bowling ball require much more willing suspension of disbelief.<-Spoiler ends.

I just saw it last night and of course, I AM STOKED :D :D

At first, I was doubtful about the design of the robots, but that didn't detract from the movie at all. I know there are some Transformer purists who wanted the characters to look exactly like the cartoon series (i was one of them) but I see how that wouldn't work with today's audience.

Some good points:
1. OPTIMUS PRIME- need I say more?
2. Bumblebee "lubricating" on the humans  lol
3. Sequels in the works!

Bad Points:
1. The characters need to be more developed. I thought that the humans were just random. More detail should have been given to their individual stories.

2. What did they do to the Decepticons?

OK, I'll definitely add to these lists. But Loungers, please, feel free to help me out with your contributions.

I'm going to go see it not expecting much but I'm sure I will enjoy it.

I love the fact Bumble bee is now a Camaro. In fact he is dead on for my old Camaro that I had for my first car. Spent many hours under the hood of that car getting things just right.

The robots out acted the humans by a lightyear in this film. Great action, horrible acting.
A worthy popcorn flick if you can sit through the teenage boy fantasy directing.

I've never seen the cartoon so had zero expectations. And sure, there's a LOT to dislike... but man, it's entertaining as hell!

I usually hate CGI, but I thought it really worked here. I honestly found it more "real" than Jackson's King Kong. I think it's because the robots were nicely edited into the scenes with actual props/cars etc.

So here's the big question I need answered about the Transformers movie (forget the GGI, forget the character development)...

Does the new movie have the song "The Touch" in it from the original Transformers movie?

 lol  lol

I just did a google search to see who recorded "The Touch" and it was someone named Stan Bush. I also found the music video for it:

WARNING: This video is extremely craptacular. I take no responsibility for any ear or eye injuries any Fedora Loungers may sustain from watching this video.

True dat. But somehow quaint and charming compared to the bombastic noise-fest of the Transformers trailer.

I'll pass on the movie.

Of corse! Because logic on car proportions with two story sized tansforming robots-beings from another planet is what truly comes into to play. Sensible choice. :eusa_doh:

I never did say it was correct, but that was their reasoning. They did seem to put some effort into making it more believable for live action, whereas in the cartoons one section of them would suddenly be bigger in one mode for no apparent reason, etc. And no more flexible metal lips, at that. Their mouths are all segmented to form the shapes of speech.

Like I said in my mini-review, the dialogue could be cheesy. But it was way worse in the cartoons, IMHO. Some of the best parts for me were when the robots transformed -- while driving -- on the highway. Or when the main USAF guy, can't remember his name, went on the motorcycle, jumped off, and did a slide-and-shoot under Devastator that would make John Woo's eyes tear up.<-Spoilers.

Anyone else think Hugo Weaving was chosen well? He hates humans as Elrond, as Smith, and now as Megatron. Perfect fit. lol
