Multicam does have it's advantages over CADPAT and MARPAT.

Personally using and experimenting with this pattern it does it's job in blending in with your surroundings be it desert or foliage. Certain select ODA & Delta operators have been seen in the sandbox using Multicam already. A much much better concealment pattern than ACU IMHO.

Forgot to add that this movie is worth it just for the great military hardware in the film.. Michael Bay must have some top brass connections.

UH-60 Blackhawks, MQ-1 Predator, F-22A Raptor, CV-22 Osprey, A-10 Warthog and F-117 Nighthawk! :eusa_clap

He has access to top notch computers.

Yeah, I understand the whole CGI aspect of it. However for example the Osprey, Raptor, etc. is still in it's early deployment stages and to have this used on film must have needed a high ranking approval.

No, sorry, got to disagree. They were all computer rendered models.

You can buy plastic models of these, so why wouldn't you be able to make computer models? It's not like these are top secret, the Osprey has been all over the news, as have the others.

As I recall the scenes, they really didn't have characters 'interacting' with these machines, they were all exterior, flying shots. All CGI.

It's just a movie.

If the flying shots were CGI (besides the jets) I certainly couldn't tell at all.

That's big props to ILM, by the way. I hate it when they cheapen out and do helicopters in CGI, but when you can't tell...

Perhaps we should move the camo discussion to another thread? [huh]

When the intermission came......

When the intermission came during the halfway point of the movie I was shocked. (They do that here in Spain I think because people need to go outside and smoke  I asked my 10 year old daughter how long the movie was and she said "3 hours dad." I could have collapsed! I had enough after the first 10 minutes. Well, the popcorn was good.

I was a fan back in the day. I even had a few of the toys - all gone now. I want to see it. Disappointing they fetl the need to change the look of some of the main characters.... I dislike Hollywood's common lack of creativity and constant recycling of old stuff, but on the other hand it also seems pointless to me to take an old brand and then change everything. The Garfield movies suffered badly from changing many things about theo riginal IMO. But it does sound like big dumb fun, which'll do for me.

Well I went and saw it today and I must say I went in with my expectations low but I was pleasantly surprised. In fact there were a couple times I was caught off guard by how wrapped up in the story I had gotten.

Also I think that the changes made to some of the main characters were just fine. I loved the new Camaro Bumble Bee, but then I had a very similar car as my first car. The rest of them they used current model cars, why keep it with cars that are 20+ years old? The movie was based in the present time not in the 80's.

I'll admit, I went in expecting very little. I knew that Michael Bay was involved, and seeing as how he is the remake king - and I have a personal dislike for him based on his remaking compulsion - I didn't expect to like it. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was an entertaining film. Granted there was no SUPERB acting, but the overall spectacle made for some good eye candy. My only complaint was that the robots were almost too complex, to the point where the slightest movement was like a 78-part routine.

To a degree I see where you're going with this.... I think the thing is that while the others were all just "cars" to me (remember, you don't tend to see US cars in the UK), Bumblebee was a recognisable vehicle. I'd assumed they would make him a modern bug, not something else. I'm sure it won't be all that big a deal if the film's good.

Don't forget my favorite: the AC-130 Spooky gunship.

Gotta love an aircraft that mounts a 105mm howitzer!
