Here's a little of that hat porn, I got Tony's latest creation in the mail today.

I think I drove him crazy with this project - there were some major changes as we went along and I actually ended up with an additional hat because Tony wasn't happy with the first one he made.

The final result is fantastic - I hope he agrees that it was all worthwhile.

This one uses Steel felt and has blue brim binding and ribbon. The ribbon is narrower than my other Tumwater hats, but still has a version of Tony's trademark triple bow. I also really like the decorative stitching on the brim. As with the other hats tony made for me, the quality of everything is first class.

Thanks so much, Tony - I'm loving this one!

Thanks for the comments on the new hat guys!

Job - I saw the stitching on some vintage and at least one custom hat and thought it would be a cool feature for this one.

Lefty - good advice; they can be painful if not treated :D

Jlee - thanks, Tony comes up with some cool colour combinations

OG - indeed, it is nice to work with people who have a lot of pride in what they do and want it to be perfect for the clients. Art had also told me that it isn't uncommon for a hatter to mess up a body and start again. Cool that Tony wanted to finish the hat and send it anyway - good guy to do business with!

1961 - Mike, I'll be looking forward to seeing yours when Tony has shipped it to you.

Blackthorn - thanks! The brim is 2 5/8 (just like your VS Pecan I think) and the open crown is just a tad over 5 3/4.

HOLLY SMOKES!!! That hat is drop dead gorgeous. The brim treatment is gorgeous, the colors are beautiful and the overall look is A+. Did Tony use a higher quality sweatband and liner on this hat? It looks different to me than the sweatband and liners that he has used in the past.

Thanks for the comments, Ale and Josh.

Josh, I looked at my other hats from Tony and all have the same liner. Each has a different colour leather for the sweatband, one black, one beige and one brown, but I'd say the thickness and quality of the leather is the same in each case. The materials Tony uses are all first class.

The only thing missing from Tony's hats is some branding. I can see future generations debating about whether this new hat just purchased on eBay 2111 is a genuine Tumwater or a 2050's clone :D

Yep, we are lucky to have so many good people still making high quality hats.

To be honest, the photos on Tony's website don't really do his hats justice. I also have hats made by Optimo and by Mr. Fawcett and the quality of Tony's work is right up there with those guys.

:arated: I have two of Tony's hats, and I couldn't agree more.

Tony is hard to beat, and his communication is second to none. I've ordered from a few of the other favorite makers, and I have to say while they all live up to their reputations as first-class hatters, Tony was the top at keeping me informed, with photos, at every step of the process. Great to work with, and super attention to detail. No slight to others mentioned here, just wanted to second the praises to TonyB. Frank.

Thanks Cicero - much appreciated.

I thought I'd add a little family portrait of my Tumwater Triplets, Silverbelly, Steel and Pecan.
