Thank you. That is an excellent read. I agree with 99+% of what is stated, and some of the information is new to me. I'll be saving that article for future reference.

Good read.

I also agree with much of what he wrote. Being an admirer of the "Bold Look" in ties, though, I would like to see him recommend more colorful designs.:D However, I do take exception to two of his comments: 1.) That the wide (front) blade should go down to about the middle of the belt buckle. I'm cutting hairs, but just touching the buckle, or a tiny bit higher is standard (especially for thinner ties). It's more a British custom to wear it in the middle of or below the buckle. 2.) That a tie should never be worn without a jacket, unless taken off briefly at work. Maybe that was true 50 years ago, but it is now considered practical and acceptable (and, I believe, rightfully so). Otherwise, it was an informative article.:eusa_clap

I would have to disagree with this:

" Speaking of creases, ties should never be ironed because doing so can permanently flatten the tie's rolled edges, giving it an unattractive, one-dimensional appearance."

A one dimensional tie would be quite a trick. ;)

Thanks for the link. I'm one of those "weirdos" who wears a tie to work -- something that sets me apart because I work in IT, where even the bosses wear golf shirts -- and I've been trying to figure out what the right length is. I'm invariably tying them too short or too long. :)

I also agree that wearing a tie without a jacket is OK nowadays. At least, that's what I do.

Ace, perfect tie length can be trial and error.
I like my tie to reach the belt, give or take a bit. It sometimes takes a tie or two to get the length right.

Yeah, I actually wouldn't mind having a one-dimensional tie. Sort of would qualify me for the Twilight Zone.lol
