It would be a hard choice, but here's a pic that has me in love with the russet:

Its a regular brown, maybe lightish brown in most light. In some light, its a nice shade of orange/brown.

That pic above by Nick123 was the one that originally made me fall in love with Russet. Otherwise I was set on ordering my Aero Bootlegger in Seal Vincenza. Now, I am sooo torn between these two colours!!

I want something unique and that will age really well but with Russet, I am little concerned about it taking on a lot of black tones and getting "dirty" look....arrrrrr going insane trying to decide

To all the owners of Seal Vincenza:

How much of the red/Orange tones are you seeing in your jackets? Are they quite obvious as in pics or is it more the the uniform chocolate Brown color?

Wind:

Before I ordered my Seal Vincenza jacket, Insurrection sent me a sample of the leather that varied from very little red/orange tone to some red/orange tone. The jacket that I subsequently received had similar variation and was consistent with the sample, but leaned more towards the red/orange tone as opposed to the darker brown portion of the sample. These descriptions overstate the color variation, and the difference between "darker brown" and "some red/orange" is subtle. On the other hand, the color variation is palpable and, in our OCD world, even slight, but palpable, color differences make a difference. I personally would have preferred that my jacket lean more towards the "darker brown" portion of the sample I received.

Based on the foregoing, I have two suggestions:

1. Get a sample -- perhaps two samples. In particular, ask Carrie for samples that depict the full variation in colors of the Seal Vincenza.

2. Ask Carrie to make your jacket in the shading that you prefer. I am not certain if she can do this, but I suspect she can (don't tell her I told you this, but she is pretty great).

Good luck.

+1 to all of the above. Don't be afraid to ask for a certain type of hide. (more grain, darker, lighter, more orange, etc...) Keep in mind that will depend on what they have available, because if stock is low on Seal for example, they won't have a lot to choose from. From what I have seen, there is a smaller difference between Russet and Seal in Vincenza than in most other hides, which is probably what is making it harder for you to decide.

Have we seen any jackets in the wild made from the Dark Seal yet? Deciding between Dark Seal and Black for my next jacket.

I briefly had an Aero Dustbowl in the dark brown seal Italian in my possession, but returned it for some adjustments. I really liked the jacket, and the Italian leather. IMHO the Italian dark seal seemed to have a little less depth and less saturation of color than my dark seal Shinki Himel. But the feel and the "hand" of the Italian leather was simply amazing. A tad bit thicker than the Shinki, and a little more supple. And just as much character (if not more) than any other leather I've owned. Right out of the box it was very wearable. No break-in at all. And I believe the color of the Italian dark seal would have taken on some more depth over time, given the chance. They had to pry it out of my hands down at the post office. (Hopefully, I'll see it back in Feb. and I'll have some better pics.) I'm very tempted to have another jacket made in the black Italian as well. You really can't go wrong with either choice.
Here's the only pic I took of it- sorry about the poor quality. DustbowlDec.jpg

I really have a hard time distinguishing between the dark seal and the black...even on the samples I have...maybe my eyes are going in my old age!
Will the dark seal lighten over time and does it appear "browner" in brighter light?
