I am pretty much on board with what Dr H says about wearing something that simply draws too much attention to one's self. At this point in my life, I am more or less restricted to brown and occasionally black, but would not reject cordovan. Just my personal preference.

Fanch, as you have black and brown, you should maybe try dipping your toe into the cordovan pool. It's more brown than anything but has that extra something in sunlight.

It's truly lovely to behold.

I certainly intend to go for a cordovan, probably in a Route 66 (tried one off the sale rack, and if it had fitted just a little better it would've been mine!). But listen to me: I haven't even got my new A-2 yet, and I'm already looking over its shoulder to the next purchase. I'm veering into tragic territory here...
I think any time that you dress purely to attract attention to yourself, no matter what age you are (we're talking onesies here), it rarely ends well. As regards a blue hide, I think a muted/bashed about version would have an understated, ageless class. In the case of the A-1, though, a different set of knits might help to 'pull back' the intensity of the blue. [huh]

Sloan, sounds like you'll be on 4 or 5 by the end of the year. Hope your Irvin order's in for a winter delivery.

Three bought, the Irvin later this year. That's from a standing start in December. *head in hands* Seriously addictive stuff. They should come with a health warning "These jackets could seriously damage your bank balance".:D

On the one hand, the ridiculous waiting time stops impulse buys, which has definitely saved me money and allowed my children to keep eating regularly.

All I need is a Shackleton, an Aeromarine, a Route 66 and a Highwayman, and I should be good. I think.

And a Pioneer, an Original Hercules, a 1960's Type 3 Suede Jean Jacket, an A-2, an ANJ-3, and a USN Type M422a. Then you will have a minimum basic jacket collection. :D

Quaint old English expression - see whether you can drop it conversation some time ;-)

Oh, sir, I am all over that one!!! Starting with my wife, this very evening: "Honey, did you by chance see what your oldest sister was wearing the other day?......" :)

Usually accompanied by a disapproving look skywards, a shake of the head and a tut, 'Sigh...mutton dressed as lamb'...

...or something like that...er...I might have misheard his comment about the leather, but he would have said it had he thought of it... ;-)
