Thoughts on Schott quality?

Is there a way for you to try on and then return whichever you like less? Or did you take off tags?

Lambskin is stretchy for sure. Within reason. So being tight will create more form fitting. A size up will just hang similar but not so clingy.

Yeah, I was just going to ask Schott if I can order a small and return the XS if I like the small better. The last day for me to return the XS is the 9/17, so I’m going to ask if they’d make an exception. I should’ve done this sooner.

are you dealing with Jerri? I've always found her (I think it's a her, not sure though) to be pretty reasonable if you ask nicely.

I love Schott. Amazing customer service and I think their jackets are great. The fit can be all over the place, but every time I go to their store, I need to leave my wallet at home, otherwise I'd get into trouble LOL. Good luck. I think you'll find the Small to be a better fit. I think the XS fits you now because it's lambskin, so it's giving you some leeway. I don't think you'll lose much of the fit by going one size bigger. It'll definitely "fit" differently, but I think looks wise it'll be close. Last thing you want is a too tight jacket. Been there, done that, and it sucks blowing money like that in the hopes it'll stretch or settle or whatever. Then again, if you know for sure it's a tshirt only jacket and all that, you might ok with the XS.

Thanks a lot for your help. This is why I hate shopping for clothes online lol. It would be so much easier if I could go to a Schott store, but alas, there isn’t one near me.

Schott has always been a hit or miss for me. Sizing was never right. Glad to hear people have had success with Schott. It does sound like a size small might be the way to go. Good luck with the jacket.

I think this jacket is already long, I don't think you want 1 inch longer on the body. lambskin I bet you wear it a bit and it will sag and stretch a little just to look right after sometime.

This. Schott jackets are already on the long side. This jacket would definitely be too long if you go any longer at all OP.

So, I put some more thought into it, and I decide to return the Schott. As much as I like the lambskin and wanted to love the jacket, I don’t think the double rider style is for me. I’ve admired this jacket for a long time, and I like the look of the double rider, but after trying it on in person, I don’t think I can pull it off lol.

I actually already ordered an Aero Board Racer through Thurston Bros. The fit jacket they sent me was almost a perfect fit, and I almost wanted to keep it. The Schott was more of an impulse purchase because I was impatient and wanted to have a leather jacket to wear going into the Fall, and again, because I’ve been eyeballing the P213 for a while. I’m glad I decided to be patient and just wait for my Aero, because I ended up not liking the style the Schott as much as I wanted to.

Good call on returning the impulse buy. Sounds like you’re on the right track going with aero instead. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

congrats
Most people here started with board/cafe racer style and ending with double rider, seems you experienced the opposite
However if you hang around... I bet one day you will come back to it maybe not this modernized minimalized fashion long slim tubular iteration but few years down the line your palate might be hardened enough for a proper cross zip in its full spec epaulette, belt all in, it is destiny most can not escape... unless you get into T flying pose A2 and ww2 accurate knit color contract nobody dead or alive outside VLJ forum give a damn.

Sounds like the right decision. The old saying of "if you have to ask, then the answer is no" usually applies well to leather jackets. If you're not sure about the fit, then it doesn't fit. It looked OK to me, but if you're not comfortable with it, the clear answer is no.

Thanks everyone for your help. I think it’s the right decision too. Now comes the hard part - the wait lol.

I haven't handled the Schott lambskin, so I don't know. My wife wants one of their women style cafe racers in lamb. I'm going to go to the LA store soon to check it out. They have the same design but with their 500 series leather instead which I know is nice, so I'm steering (pun, no pun?) her in that direction, but she keeps saying she wants the jacket to be "soft" LOL.

But I've had a couple lambskin jackets from All Saints. They were fantastic. I got "brainwashed" lol into thinking they were crap after spending too much time here LOL. But I'd only do lamb in a racer. I think cross zip needs to be a chunkier leather.

The lambskin used on it is very nice. I haven’t handled many high end leather jackets that use lambskin, but the lambskin on the P213 was much thicker and felt more substantial than the lambskin used on your average mall jacket. It’s thicker than the lambskin used on the handful of all saint jackets I’ve handled too. Compared to the P213, the lambskin on those other jackets felt like they’d tear pretty easily. I don’t how to describe it, but the P213 just felt really high quality - the lambskin was thick…but still supple at the same time…if that makes any sense. Too bad the style just wasn’t right for me.

I have a Scott lamb skin bubble type puffer jacket I think it’s model 214D . It is so very soft glove style leather . The hand on this is lux. I really dig it but not for a cross zip or CR but for this style it’s perfect . Since it’s puffer it’s not a tight fit but it’s more like being enveloped in an puffy cloud.
