Hi guys. I came across this mc jacket and was wondering if anyone has one. They appear VERY similiar to the Langlitz, but a few hundred cheaper. They use a very heavy hide (4 1/4 oz). I was wondering how there customer service was also. I wish i knew how to add a link, it is in thier leather jacket tab on the last page. Thanks guys for any info.

Not got any experience of this jacket or maker, but saw the Coronado when I was last looking for a[nother] bike jacket. Looks like a nice bit of kit. I'd be interested to see what the quality was like too.

Although the Coronado pattern isn't to my taste, I own 3 G&B jackets out of perhaps 12 leather jackets I currently have. They are amongst the best made jackets I have seen in 30 years of buying leather. Mine are all goat, which is about 2.5 to 3 oz and of superb quality. Customer service is impressive. As a bike jacket, I have their Maricopa which I had customed in dark brown and without the epaulets - looks a bit like a Highwayman.

Thanks for the link HD.

Thanks for your input Seb. I emailed them once and asked them how long the wait would be for a customized jacket and they were very quick with a response. They said there is currently around a three week wait.

Well Aether, I might have to be the guinea pig. LOL.

Just searched and found this tread. I have one of these that I bought right around this same time (2011) but did not know of FL at that time.

On edit, there's no mention of this jacket anywhere on their site anymore. It's gone.

I'll do a review on it soon. Anyone else have one?

So this is neat, I have owned this jacket since early 2011, after being on a flight next to an Aieline pilot who was wearing his very nice G&B Skyliner jacket. Being a person who likes to check out quality leather jackets, I asked him about it. After seeing what it was and writing down thier webiste, I searched and found this Size 46T Coronado in the Sale area, with no belt but the zip in liner. It was quite a bit off the $1095 listed price, however at the time it was the most expensive leather jacket I ever bought.

When it arrived, I was literally shocked at the weight. The shipping weight was 11.0 lbs, and this was no joke. The zip out liner by itself weights 1 lb. I could stand a little more toso length (certainly glad it was a Tall) and the action back is a little exaggerated, however it's a 46L not a 44L.

Here's some detail shots:

As you can see it's clearly a California Highway patrol style jacket. Langlitz Pocket Columbia is a similar style. Perhaps I'll do a side by side comaprison of the two, however my Langlitz is a standard Columbia and is over 30 years old. I did not recieve a belt with this jacket.

As for general fit/feel this is a work jacket for an officer. It's comfortable to a point, however one can clearly see it's intended for protection over comfort. I'm thankful it's just a little large, as I primarily use it for cold weather/windy days below 30F. The zippers work very well and are smooth and approprately sized for such a heavy jacket. That said even with the liner out, it's really heavy for general use. The Langlitz is thier 3.0oz leather, much more broken in and much more comfortable to wear.

The steerhide leather (unknown origin) is heavily grained (see detail photos below) and does not show much break in. This is in sharp contrast to the Aero jackets I own that start showing break-in almost immediatley. The sleeves show very little "bunching" and the heavy-duty lining shows no wear at all. This jacket has only a very light leather smell to it.

Fit photos didnt turn out very well, there was a little too much sunlight today. Here's a teaser however remember that it was purchased before I knew about FL, had been educated more on good fit, and it was one of the only ones they had left. I am glad to have it and hope it will serve many more years.

Thanks for the detailed write up and review. Fit doesn't look bad at all from the shot you posted and I'd love to see more pics.

So I see now that they are based in El Cajon, CA (right on rt 8, I drove through there en route to Imperial a few years back.) That's a unique place to produce jackets, I would bet few of them are worn by locals.

I wonder if they have found the M/C jacket market "saturated" and are scaling back to more millitary articles in general.

I really have to apologize for the bad spelling in several areas of my review. I proofed it but I think I'll be writing these up in Word from now on and copy & paste into the forum :)

regius, looking back, I don;t think you are missing all that much. The Cal-Leathers are similar, better quality. The main attractions to the G&B wasn the 10 lbs of steerhide leather. However even that was a compromise, it was "printed" (grain) and never really "broke in" to me. Take a long look at the Cal-Leathers, I have one on my back as I type this that is 50+ Horsehide, and its immaculant. Lots of character, and still even smells new!
