Who is that mug? Surely neither Thomas Davenport nor Josiah Wedgwood!

So, do you call the thing a Davenport, a sofa, or a couch?

Mignon.

Orvieto Classico or Chianti?

Chianti, but only from a Fiasco

Or perhaps some of that awful Luxardo Cherry Wine from one of those doughnut bottles with the clock in it. (Blech!)

Filet, prepared ala Stroganov

Trout. Robert Trout.

Windsor McCay

Now, yet another question:

Ben Gross or Orrin Dunlap?

Dunlap by a hair. Gross was a good critic, but he carried too many grudges and let Sid Shalit carry his water a lot of the time. None of them equal John Crosby, who was the finest radio critic who ever lived. Not excepting Nick Kenny.

Gruelle over McCay, who always struck me as a bit too twee.

Sidney Smith or Gus Edson?

Sidney Smith. In addition to the Gumps I like Yutch and Doc Yak.

"Blooper" or "Super"?

I had a blooper, and used to make it squeal up a storm whenever my sister tried to tune in a rock station in the next room. Lots of fun. But for day in day out listening, I have to go with a super.

01A detector or 00A detector?

Dry Cells

I remember those No. 6 dry cells from science class when we would do electrical experiments.

1. Los Angeles or San Francisco?

2. Sydney or Melbourne?

3. Munich or Berlin?

4. Venice or Florence?

5. Canterbury or York?
I think "London or Leeds?" would have been a no-brainer:p

A super? Well, I guess that you have more to spend on batteries and tubes than some of the rest of us. ;)

In a Neutrodyne, a UX-200A. In a Regenerative set with an appropriate rheostat, a UV-200, with between twelve and eighteen volts on the plate depending upon the particular tube.

I'm away from my QST's at the moment, but have you seen the cartoon of "Neutrodyne Newt, the three-armed wonder"? I recall that it may have appeared in either the August or November 1924 issue.

May I ask whether your "blooper" a home-brew or a factory job?

Radio World or the Wireless Age?

Wet Head thanks. I like what comes out of the tube better. :p

Ansonia or Sessions clocks? :p

E. N. Welch:p

A straight answer to your question would be Ansonia. Sessions was definitely a second-tier maker. I just now happen to have a little Ansonia Crystal regulator apart of my bench (needs a few bushings).

"Count Screwloose of Toulouse" or "Nize Baby"?
