My goodness. I had no idea gentlemen here felt such a strong distaste for persons of the female persuasion. I am astonished and saddened.

I really have nothing more to add, nor, evidently, would I be welcome to do so.

Just to clarify I don't have a problem with swear words. There is a time and place for everything, even a well place curse word. St. Louis did a better job of stating my point about inappropriate language in public settings. Our shared public space is not the setting to brag about your drunken attempt at sex with a woman you obviously disdain.

I'd like to see a bit of discretion make a comeback.

There are always outliers, Miss St. Louis. Please don't feel alone in your disquiet. Even so, as we are friends here it is nice to know that so many feel comfortable enough to say freely that which they might otherwise conceal. It is rather like "Mention(ing) The Geographic, it identifies you."

You are more than welcome to add your comments!
It is odd to consider men have had it so good for so long yet any perceived disadvantage in the battle of the sexes is taken very badly. One might view such attitudes as spoiled-sports.

Men don't care to be forced to change the dynamics for the hunter group or the sports team.
We're fine with the idea of women doing what ever as long as they don't interfer but that is not what women do. Women always interfere, the concept of the opposite sex makes the dynamics change.

If a women asked a man to move furniture she will waste all sorts of time while the guy is busting a hump holding it up off the floor. then they want you to adjust it this way and then that way and put it on the other wall. Their conmcern is not for the man that is helping but some astetics value. We're fine with you pushing it all over the place oncewe got it in the room but stop wasting my time and strength already. You can ask me to move it but don't tell me how to move it. You wanna do both - pay someone.

If there were no men women would be living in caves, now they would be very nice, clean caves but women don't actually invent anything.
Men invented:
weapons
tools
carpentry
stone masonry
building
engineering
most medicines and surgery techniques
dentistry
most sports
and games
the warrior mentality that preserves your freedom
the car
the light bulb
trains
boats
engines
power plants
roads
distribution systems
computers
most really cool important stuff like remotes and big screen tv's
high end stereo equipment
etc.

In a world without women
all fights would be fistfights.
Chances are tears would not be used as weapons as often
we would ask what's wrong and actually find out whats wrong instead of silence that means try and figure out my thought process has come up with

Men and women are simply wired differently 90% of the time.

Show me 10 women that won TV's Survivor because of their actual suvival abilities instead of being simply conniving.

Actually Survivor shows clearly how most men and women are different.

Men simply act differently when women are around we are programmed that way if we like you we try to impress you. But in the work place you take a tradition male atmosphere and introduce women femenism telss everyone we are instantly categorized as either outright or hidden mysogonistic, sexual harrsement machines and possible rapists. Why any woman would want to put herself in such a position, I can't tell you.

I believe the notion that "women can do anything that men can do" is bogus. There are things that men can do which women can't. And there are things which women can do, which men can't. Or which can't do as well, in either case. We all have physical, and possibly, mental, limitations.

For example, it's been scientifically proven by a number of people, including the Mythbusters, that women have a higher tolerance for pain, even over the highschool-college-professional bodybuilder super-jocks. The threshold for pain is higher, possibly because women have to handle childbirth. I can't imagine it's easy trying to pop out a whole 'nother human outta between your legs. So having to do that once, and possibly even two, three, four (or in the case of the Duggar family, 20) times, would build up quite a resistence to pain.

On the other hand, I think there to be a sort of "denial" or a "show-offiness" when it comes to women in certain respects. "We're just as good/smart/strong as men, and WE CAN PROVE IT!"

I recall an incident that was related to me, where such an occasion sent a woman to hospital.

It was told by a guy who worked in his university theater-group. They were setting up the scene on the stage for a play. And this involved moving heavy props like tables, beds and such-like.

There was this girl trying to move a really heavy couch across the stage. And this guy, seeing that she was obviously not getting anywhere with it, offered to help. A perfectly gentlemanly thing to do.

Unfortunately, this guy was about six and a half feet tall, and not scrawny, either. So the woman took it as offense, that this big hunky guy is trying to take pity on this poor weak female who CAN'T DO WHAT HE CAN!?? She flatly refused his offer of help and continued to move the couch, despite an incredible lack of progress.

The story goes that she injured her back and had to be rushed to hospital as a result, purely from trying to prove herself.

It's stuff like that which makes me say that NO, men and women are not equal. Equal rights, maybe. but physically? I think not. And trying to prove so, when you aren't, is only a recipe for disaster.

I am not suggesting you don't comment, it is a discussion your voice needs to be heard.

You asked and I am simply trying to give you what some people view the battle between the sexes entails. You don't have to agree or be happy with the answers i am giving just know that the concepts and attitudes are out there.

People think we live in a world where things shold go how we want them to go but history and genetics copled with true human nature tens to make the world a not so rosy place.

Life would be simple if we could just be nice to each other and play nice bt it just seems that something always comes up and inteferes with the way we want it to be. That is because the way we want it to be is not the same as they way they want it to be, or the way those people over there want it to be. In spite of what some people say everyone can't be right if we have so many diffent opinions. The key is what works. We don't always get what we want, no matter how passionet one might be about flying if you're legally blind you don't get to fly the airliner, you don't ge to fly the airline if your vision isn't perfect, of if you have a heart problem.

It may not be "fair" bt for safety's sake it's really fair for the passengers.

John, you must realize everything you stated above were produced in conditions where women were overtly, and in some cases legally discouraged from engaging in. To say a woman cannot be a stonemason or a warrior because "it's not in her" is misleading.
Our white, male American society never gave women (and many other groups) the honest opportunity and encouragement to flourish on their own.
Sadly it appears what human rights women have today is obviously begrudingly given.
You've set women up to fail then point a finger and say "look at how you've failed"..

I wouldn't mind having a man or two around the theatre to do the heavy lifting, but they're all so spleeny these days I end up having to do it all myself. 60-pound film cans, beer kegs, carbon-dioxide bottles, up and down four flights of stairs over and over again, climbing up twelve-foot ladders to hoist lights, clearing the sidewalk of snow, and I'm fifty years old. Makes me wonder if I should have joined the Army after all.

I'm sure some women find it attractive to have a man who can do all the heavy work. Just as how some men find it attractive to have a woman who can do all the "householdy" stuff. There was an article about a week ago in the news, that suggested that married couples who stick to 'traditional gender roles' tend to get along better and have better...bedroom relations. How far that's true, I'm not sure, but in certain ways, it does seem to make sense.

The fact of the matter is most women are capable of doing great things.

Most women can organze things much better than I can.

Although trying to read a newspaper after a woman has gone thru it is like a disaster movie, nothing is where it should be, stuff has been torn out and the pages aren't in the right order.

Yes. Poor, white, middle class Christian men have had it so tough down the ages.

Sir, I beg to differ. GREATLY.

My mother is horrible at organisation. One LOOK at our kitchen will tell you that. We have a bazillion jars, boxes, packets and containers of all the spices and herbs of Far Arabia in our kitchen.

And not a SINGLE one of them is labelled or categorised in any way AT ALL.

...it makes cooking in our house very interesting. The only thing I know for certain, is that the flour is in the freezer, the sugar is in the second shelf down, and the salt and pepper are next to the stove, along with the olive-oil and the vinegar. The soy-sauce is in the fridge.

Where's all the other stuff? Your guess is as good as mine.

The best way for a woman to get help is to make a guy feel needed and ask them but in the right way. Oh hon, I'm working hard on this "project" it would really be a big help if you took the garbage out, please. Now the guy feels like Sir Galahad.

Actually this is a key difference between most men and women: the garbage / trash can in the kitchen usually but anywheres else in the home. Most guys will push the garbade down so it is packed and start balancing items on the top of the pile but won't consider taking it out to the big cans or dumpster. A woman looks at a nearly full can and it is screaming to her "I need to be emptied."

Nothing wrong with that as long as everyone sticks to their roles.
Men need to ask themselves how they want to be treated when they are not the warrior, athlete, surgeon, or engineer? Most men are nothing like this but ride the coat-tails of their species.
What should a man tell his daughter when she says she wants to be a scientist or play baseball?

I've never been particularly well organized, because I'm usually too busy to see any point in puttering and fussing. In school the teacher used to make me turn my desk upside down once a semester and dump out all the accumulated trash and junk, and my desks at work and at home aren't much better today. I usually have a rough idea where things are, though, and if someone tries to "tidy things up" on me, it drives me nuts.

As far as newspapers go, I always read mine from front to back, rarely tear anything out, and the only thing I'll do out of the ordinary is write rude sayings coming out of the mouths of political figures or celebrities I hate. When I'm done with the paper I neatly fold it and put it in the box for the dump. Doesn't everybody?
