I bought a 1950s Champ off ebay recently. Nothing special about it except the crease running down the center of the crown.
Now, I have a tall head so tall crowned hats work best for me. But this hat had a very low crown. After much trying to get the right bash (and failing) I tossed it on the chair out of frustration. Low and behold, the center crease popped out, creating what I call the "tri-crown" (patent pending). Now it's tall enough for my head while being unique.
It looks like a regular bash to the casual observer:
But tip it or look down and it turns into something new:
