I wish the armholes were smaller.

Hrmm...sounds as if he wasn't wearing the vest when he was measured for that jacket. Seems like the most viable explanation.

Hey, this day and age you can't even get a military uniform with proper armholes. One of the first things I did upon getting my service dress jacket was the armhole test...sure enough, the lapels bulged and the collar hit me in the back of the head. I was annoyed to say the least.

Well, the suits of today's politicians are necessarily generic and bland. The press have a field day with anyone trying anything different. Blair took an unbelievable amount of abuse for wearing a plum coloured suit.

Though bland in colour, and though i hate all of the people wearing them, a glance around the Tory benches of the House of Commons reveals a number of very well cut and tailored DB and SB 3 piece suits. Unfortunately, this has become associated with the old-money Tories. Wearing a well-cut suit as a leftist is seen as somehow rejecting one's working class roots. [huh]

Anyway, a few of the Tories have nice suits. None of the labour people do. The chap who acted as speaker when the speaker was recently ill is a prime example (can't find good pic).
