It seems to me that Stetson strayed away from the vita felt hats by the 50s. Is that correct?

So, I was sort of correct in that the early Stetson vita felts weren't like the later process. Two different process styles.

nope. just a standard premier model, with brown stamps, rather than embossed gold. but i will now be on the lookout for vita felt, as I really hanker for the light models, like my trusty borsalino strat clone

I just picked up my very first Strat, and these photos are before cleaning or shaping. No idea how old it is. The photos make it look quite a bit lighter in color than it is in reality - it is much closer to a darker brownish-grey. Unfortunately, it is a bit small for me so I may end up having to sell it, but for now I am enjoying this beautiful hat.

Justin/Other wise Fedora Folks; How is the vita felt different from the regular felted Stratoliner? Weight/feel/wear/etc.?

Vita-felt is super soft compared to my regular Strat. It's also much lighter.

The Vita is much lighter in weight. It wears wonderfully. My "regular" vintage Strats are much heavier hats, for sure. It has a more refined "feel" to it, for sure.

Soft and refined - oh boy, those are features that are appealing. I do not see many Vita Felt Stetsons, but I will be on the look-out for one to live at my house. Thanks for the info folks.
